commercial software and hard reset

hi, i'm planning to purchase some ppc software for my x51v and i'm just wondering what i will have to do after if I were to hard reset my device? and what about formatting my desktop? will i have to buy the software program again?

I think no, but you will need to keep the following safe:
1) the software itself (if not downloadable from the developer's site) for reinstallation after hard reset
2) the registration key you've got after purchase in case you need to input again.


Sometimes the registration key is generated using the name in the "Owners Information", so remember to use the same name otherwise the registration may not work.

Make sure that you take regular backups of your device. If you suffer a device failure or you need to perform a hard reset, you should be able to restore the device without having to reload third-party software.

However, zhaoyun's advice is excellent: store your software keys somewhere safe (just in case). :approve:

Make sure that you keep the same Owner's name. This is what most software uses for registration. I've done far too many hard resets lately playing with different tweaks and never had an issue.
