x51v Battery drainage.

Hello Guys,

I know this subject must have been covered before, but would someone who is knowledgeable about it help me to find a quick solution.

My x51v keeps draining its battery periodically overnights (or when is off for 10 to 15 hours). I have done the 'fake server trick' and soft/hard reset-ed it several times with no luck.

I appreciate any comments and guidelines.

P.S. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.:)

Unfortunately there isn't as far as I know an easy solution for everyone.

Some people had this if they left Wifi on I believe, try turning off wifi before you turn off the axim.

You said you've hard-resetted, what if you hard reset and then don't install any additional software. Does it drain then?

HAve you tried a Total Power Off? (go into the POWER menu and set the pwoer button to "total power off" instead of "suspend" (or to 'press and hold for total pwoer off') --- THIS WILL KILL ALL RUNNING PROGRAMS!) that might be a solution if nothing else works

Another suggestion would be if you can't find out what is causing the drain would be to simply plug the device into the charger over night. I'd say use that as a last resort.

Thank you for all the suggestions.
- I already have upgraded to ROM A12.
- I never leave the WiFi on. As a matter of fact I rarely use Wifi or BT.
- I do not use YahooGO.
- I have not tried it with no additional software after hard reset. Even if that works, who can use his axim without any additional software?
- Total power off will work. However, it is a drag to have to wait for the system boot everytime you need to use your axim. It beats the whole purpose, doesn't it?

Thanks again.

Your system is rebooting every time? I know when I turn mine off and turn it back on 5 minutes or 5 hours later it is right where I left off. Your problem sounds like something I'd contact Dell about.

No, My system is not rebooting every time. This was a suggestion from Ashton to remedy the battery drainage problem. As I said before, it will work but it will be a very big inconvenience.

the suggestion about seeing if it is ok without any software loaded is a good one. but what they meant to say in addition i think is that if it works with nothing loaded then load one or two programs at a time and see which one is causing your problem. usually it is something that is on the Today page or possibly something like mail that tries to check for new mail every so often. keep in mind that the pda turns itself on at midnight and does a quick check for schedule, etc to be ready for the next day. if something is trying to get an update and cannot connect then it may stay on trying to do that until it kills the battery. you might just try unchecking everything on your Today page for one night and see if it works then.
