Hi, is there an easy way to simply tranfer files from a desktop computer to the Axim without using activesync? I'm trying to tranfer about 100 pdfs onto the SD card. The problem is, activesync is automatically converting the pdf's to use reflow, which I don't want...So, I have to manually click cancel for each of the 100 pdfs! There has to be an easier way?? When I connect the SD card directly to my desktop computer, it recognizes the card as unformatted (but there is data already on the card). Any suggestions on how to transfer lots of files without the reflow mutilation?
Your computer should have been able to read your SD card instead of seeing it as empty. Maybe you can try a different memory card reader? Also, to prevent ActiveSync from converting your PDF's, go to Tools -> Rules tab -> Conversion Settings button -> Desktop to Device tab. Find "Adobe Acrobat", then click on "Edit...". Change the type to "No Conversion". You can do this for any other file types that you don't want converted. Hope this helps :) .
I have had this problem of "card unformatted" when trying to transfer files direct using a card reader (Belkin). Using anothe card reader solved the problem for me
Ok, I tried Card Export which actually worked great for about 1 hour. Then, while browsing the directories from my desktop computer, one of my folders containing most of my files became unreadable -- just totally garbled characters. What did I do??? What do I do??
It's unclear whether you're just doing it once, or it's something you have to do on a regular basis.
In first case, simply clicking "Cancel" a hundred times may be the simplest solution.
If you have to sync them regularily, I have a couple of suggestions for you:
1) Try MobSync, it will syncronize directories without converting files. It also has an added bonus of being able to sync any directory on PC to any on PPC.
2) AS doesn't know by itself a PDF file from any other file, it needs to have a special module to convert them, so I assume you're using Adobe Reader for PPC ? You can change conversion settings as someone already recommended. I personally switched to a program called PocketXPDF, it's also free but much, much smaller and faster than Adobe, and I don't think it would attempt to convert files on sync.
3) Lastly, unless you have other important data on that card, I'd format it clean before copying these files - you may have a corrupted file system.

Thanks much.
Try this small program. Requires that you have a card reader, but it runs reliably and it is FREE!!!
I used to have problems with my SD after coming from Palm's TE.
I used the software called Pocket Mechanics to reformat the SD.
After the format, I do not have any more problems.
