Are pocket PC's susceptible to viruses? Is so what antivirus program should I get?

To view movies on the Axim, what software do you use to convert a DVD to PDA viewable? Are there any copy right issues in doing this?

I am getting a 2G SD card and a 4G CF card. Is this sufficient? Any issues with this?

If I want to install/load programs such as Adobe Reader do I have to fist install them on my PC then transfer them to the Axim via the sync?

Any pointers will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

I use Fairuse to convert DVD's. Fairuse Light (the free version)will let you convert them up 700mb size. The view quality is great on my PDA at that size. The full version is only $20.00.

I usually convert movies to about 300mb to view on my PDA, so I can fit a few movies on a card(quality is still excellent at that size).

I use TCMP (formally know as CORE Player) to view.

When you install almost any program, your PDA will ask you where you want to install it: CD card, CF Card, or Main Memory (depending on which memory cards you have inserted).

I have noticed that after you install a program there is message along the lines that to gain more memory space you can delete program files. Is this message telling you dump the actual program or are the temp files that the install files left somewhere?

Yes, great thread. I just got a new x51v after 3 iPaq's in a row! This is a great improvement on my iPaq 4155, which is a very decent pda. I've sort of been "out of the loop" on Windows Moble 5, since I didn't have that OS. I just love the pre-installed Task Switcher and the built-in ability to switch between screen orientations. I don't know if I even need to add anything.

I guess I have lots of reading to do, but would you please tell me if I can access secure websites with the current browser, or if there's some kind of patch for that. I noticed that with Gmail, it took me right into the mobile version...or do I need a different browser?

Also - regarding bluetooth keyboard and mouse - will any BT mouse or KB work, or are they proprietary? And what about the presentation cable? I was hoping to get one for less than $49 on eBay, but didn't find any (shipping fees substantially raised the total price.)

Thanks.
Patti
