After a couple of weeks of configuring and reconfiguring my 51v, I now have a device that works without problems everytime I use it. WiFi, BT, and Activesync work as expected. No mysterious memory leaks, lockups, battery drain, display corruption, or WSOD. It took some work. I could not have done it without the help of this site and its members. With this in mind, I'm wondering how common it is to have a stable and bug-free Axim?
Glad to hear it jhom :approve:
My x50v 2003se is very stable (only problems I ever have are sloppy 3rd party software) and I only hard reset when reconfiguring (which was almost a year ago).
I've had mine for more than a year, I use it every day, sometimes heavily for work, sometimes just watching movies or listening to music or books. I sync it several times a day. I use WIfI and BT all the time. I use it with card export as a card reader when I have to do things on other peoples computers (all the time). I'm still using A06. I use it with for Nav at least once a week. Skype, MSN etc regularly. 8Gb CF 4Gb SD and various smaller cards. TV remote. Ebooks etc etc........
Apart from fairly regular Soft Resets (which I don't have a problem with) mine has been bloody wonderful. But now that I have put that in writing I know it is going to punish me.

Frequent soft resets are a good thing. I learned that a long time ago. I remember when MS was just introducing PPC2002 (or was it 2003?) and had a traveling road show demonstrating the wonders of the PPC. I believe it was Bev Howard or one of her colleagues who got up and had us chant "Soft Reset is good." To this day, I soft reset without a second thought. We should all chant: "All we are saying...is give a soft reset a chance..." :)
I have a Axim 51 that I have to push the reset button in the back to get to come on after it has been off. Push the power on button on top doesnt do anything when it gets this way. Any suggestion.

I've been using my X50 with no configuration issues *at all* for about 20 months now. I bought it 12/04 - installed and configured stuff on it until around 4/05 then left it alone after that. Not one single problem with it - and I use it A LOT.

Will a hard reset reset the whole device. Im trying to change the mobile device name in active sync. I can delete the partnership but when I sync again it come up with the same name I had before its not give me the option to change it. Plus Im having issue when my device is off for a long period I have to push the the reset button in the back. Then how do you do a Hard Reset on Axim 51.

Yes, a hard reset will reset your device back to the factory settings. It is done by turning on your device. Then simultaneously push the power button while pushing the soft reset button on the back. Then follow the directions on the screen after it reboots.
To change the device name you need to change the Device ID in the About screen (start>settings>system>Device ID). Depending on your Activesync setup, you may need to delete the current partnerships to do this. If you are lucky, you may not need to delete your current partnerships.
Given your problems with resets, you may need to ultimately do a hard reset and reinstall your programs. It is time consuming but it is the best way to find out where the problem lies. In my experience, problems come about because of interactions with 3rd party software and the native system and software. If I were you, I would install one program at a time and then check to see if your device is stable. You may find at after installing a particular program you start having problems. That is the culprit. Then you can decide what to do. Good luck.
