MHELP! Major Hangup with ROM A06 to A12 Patch

I followed some previous instructions which said to do a hard reset by pushing the power button at the same time as the recessed reset button. I did this an a screen appeared noting that if I want to restore factory settings press the icon. To cancel the operation, press the second icon. It notes all existing data is lost when you restore to factory defaults.

Unfortuantely, the Axim seemed locked on this screen and I've tried everything and it only brings back this screen... locked up and I can't input anything. Pressing the reset button does nothing at all. Pressing both reset and power shuts it down, but when I power up this scary screen just comes back... locked up.
OK, I pulled the battery and did another three resets and it finally booted back up to my today screen.

Gotta find a simple way to upgrade these dumb things.

Mike

Don't tap the icon, press the hardware button corresponding to that icon below the screen.

First, the icon represents the button on the Axim you are to press in order to confirm that you really do wish to perform a hard reset. I may have read your message wrong, but it sounded like you were tapping the icon on the screen. Instead, you should
be pressing the "CONTACTS" button next to the D-Pad.

Also, make sure your lock switch is off. This has bitten all of us at one time or another.

HTH!

Whoops! Right, the buttons. Well, I chickened out but unfortunately I now have to re-install Pocket Breeze, Tom-Tom, and some other stuff. For some reason I got to the end of the ROM install process and when I clicked on it... it said it could not find the file. Am I supposed to copy a file from the laptop over to the Axim and trigger it from the Axim?

Is there a more user-friendly method for updating ROMs? Could I put it on a blank SD card and install from the SD card to the Axim?
