I have an X51v (with WM5 obviously) and im having a weird problem with the menu for changing the input method (ie, the one that lets you choose between keyboard, letter recognizer etc.). When i tap the little arrow for the menu it up it takes around 7 seconds for it to appear, which seems like an eternity. When i first got the pda it was instantaneous. If i tap the keyboard to put it up and down it happens straight away, so it's just a problem when changing the input.
This problem occurred before so i did a hard reset and it corrected itself. However, once i reinstalled all of my programs the problem returned. I've tried killing tasks and booting into safe mode but it doesn't help. My last option is to hard reset again and install everything one by one but that would be a pain in the bum.
Has anyone had a similar problem that they've fixed. Any ideas?
Thanks amigos
edit: i just realised this might be better placed in the wm5 area. sorry!

Try another hard reset (backup first). Load the programs one at a time with a soft reset in between. Test the input device between each install to see which one is causing the problem.
It's slow, it's labourious, it's a PIA - but it works! You may find that you just have too many applications and memory is running a little scarce. You may find it's a rogue program. Either way, you'll find an answer.:approve:
If it all turns into a bag of spanners, just restore from the backup that you took before you hard reset. BTW, this approach cured my BT Licence expired problem. :approve:

i should have done that after the first reset but i was too lazy and didn't expect it to happen again. i'll wait for some other suggestions first and if there are none i'll give it a go.
I have the TO IR keyboard and it may related to some interaction between its driver and IR function of the 51v. For me, once I disabled the Stowaway driver from the SIP options with SK Tools, the problem went away. I've also noticed that when I had IR coexistance enabled, I had problems with the 51v.
try backup registry, delete and restore method (CSLID branch only). Search for it.. it really working. I try it before. The method actually will re-arrange the registry once you re-import from .reg file.
I got this problem when you tap on arrow to change input method and need to wait for 5-10 sec before it popup. With the tricks the menu came out immediately.
I have the same problem.
I did a hard reset once. It didn't help for me.
To get around this issue, I just stick with the "key board" format input and disable the other input format using sktool.
Tonight, I reenabled the Stowaway Keyboard option on the SIP screen. Everything is working as quickly as expected. Before doing this, I optimized the registry with SK Tools. This may have helped solve the slow SIP options selection.

this worked! i can't believe it. i just backed HKCR\CLSID and then reimported it using resco registry. i didn't even have to delete it.
unfortunately i'd already done the hard reset and reinstalled everything, but i found they two programs that caused the problem - MIMS and UpToDate (both medical programs). MIMS seemed to slow it down a little and then UpToDate on top made it much worse. I think both install some vbr stuff. MIMS requires u to install ADOCE system components and UpToDate installs Sentry2020 with it.
anyway, thanks for everyone's help. i suggest everyone experiencing similar problems try the above as mine is now super quick.
edit: i forgot to mention that i don't have a Think Outside keyboard, but i wonder if this will also help that issue?
Ok guys/gals, I want to do this also... where's the registry?
I use Total Commander, and this is as far I got... \\\registry\HKLM\
hey there. not sure about total commander's interface as i used resco registry, so i'll explain with that. it comes as a trial with resco explorer that you can download for free. if you dont feel like downloading it then maybe you can translate the below instructions accordingly.
anyway, open resco registry. click on HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT to expand it. Scroll down until you find CLSID. Tap and hold to bring up the menu. Choose export, name it whatever you like and then tap save. That should take u back to the main screen, from where u hit menu, select import and browse to where you saved the file. that's it!
hope it works. let us know how it goes. thanks again to aneip for the advice.
