Aximsiteactivesyncicon Push Email

Due to the X51v's non-existent push-email functionality with Exchange 2003 SP2, I decided to take a look at Emoze (www.emoze.com).

I installed it on my server at home, created a Mail profile which pointed it to my Exchange server mailbox. The PDA client was installed over the net from mobile.emoze.com and that was pretty much it after entering my Emoze account details.

New mails to my Exchange mailbox are pushed through to my Ax more or less immediately whether I am using GPRS for my net connectivity or Wi-Fi.

A separate Inbox profile is created on the Ax which thereby allows you to use it to connect to a different mailbox if you want to carry on with Exchange ActiveSync - a word of warning, if you are continuing to use Exchange ActiveSync, make sure you disable the Contacts, Calendar and Tasks in one or the other otherwise you could end up with lots of duplicates or items appearing in mailboxes where they shouldn't.

All in all, a pretty good product :approve:

Sounds good. I took a look on their web site. It looks like you could push to a lot of phones too. I might try it on my Ax, using just WiFi for now. I would just need to get a phone that I can tether to the Ax (or my laptop).

We do have strong support for the Dell Axim series and we're constantly working to support more devices.

Stewart: Good point, it's very important that the ActiveSync checkboxes are unchecked in order to not have duplicates.

If you have any specific questions about emoze, Don't hesitate to ask!

Eh...I have used my Axim X51v together with Microsoft's Push e-mail. The neccesary Security & Messaging feature pack is part of the latest A12 ROM.
So maybe want to give it another go ?

Cheers!

I've never understood why push email is used so often to knock the Axim line. I've got an x50v running 2003SE so I don't have an option to push. I've got friends with crackberries and they all scoff at not having push.

I do have active synch set to check my exchange server every 10 minutes using my tethered cell phone. I could set it to 5 minutes (and I have on ocassion).

I guess I just don't get emails that are so important that 9 minutes are going to make a big difference.
