"UNCLE!" - x50v back to WM2003SE

I cry "uncle." I have tried very hard for far too long to make WM5 work on my x50v. I went through A01, and got it working pretty well. Then A02 came out, and I thought it was better. But the constant syncing problems are driving me nuts. (I now believe A01 was more stable than A02.) With A02 "Needs Attention" error messages keep showing up more and more at work everyday - enough for my boss to notice. Tonight I came home and started to sync, and the axim did an involuntary hard reset. . . . . I'm traveling most of next week. I need the axim working reliably by Monday evening.

So I'm reverting to WM2003SE as I'm typing this. I like the features of WM5 better, but maintaining it is affecting my sanity, not to mention my relationships with others - I have been spending way to much #&$&* time fixing WM5 on the x50v.

Thanks for listening. I cannot say I wasn't warned.

It's ok. You weren't the first my friend and I'm sure you won't be the last. At least you tried.

Me too :(

I gave it about a week. After the second time of the battery draining to nothing I decided the negatives far outwayed the positive. A02 looked promising at first but I really saw no improvement.

Surfing the web was so slow that it was unusable. Couldn't use battery meters. Didn't matter if I didn't. The Battery would still drain to nothing without warning. I loved the address book but not enough to continue using WM5 A02.

Soooooo I guess I paid $40 for an OEM version of Resco Photo Viewer.

Upgraded my x50v to WM5 A02. It lasted about 2 days with nothing but sluggish, jerky performance. Finally when I decide to go back to 2003SE it wouldn't turn on or even hard reset. Another brick back to Dell...Thankfully, they did agree to upgrade me to an x51v which I have fallen in love with.

Another vote for rollback to WM 2003SE here. I tried but like most others could not stand the sluggishness or battery life. Also chapped me that Sprite BU 5.1 would never work properly in Schedule mode. Back to WM 2003SE and all is well (and fast!).

its really funny how easily some people here give up and rollback its like "I can't play tony hawk so I'm rolling back" or "my alarm didn't go off so I'm rolling back" or even "I can't switch calendar views with the press of a button anymore so I'm rolling back" theres many more reasons also that I'm Not gonna explain.

Just did it after 2 weeks. Decided to get a X51v and give my wife the 50. I just couldn't give her something that made her scream louder than she already does.

I am one who had so many problems with wm2003se that I was about destroy my Dell with a hammer. I upgraded to A02 a few weeks ago, and this thing has never worked better. It is now a fast as it should be and finally plays games like it should. I haven't had to hard reset once. With wm2003se, a hard reset/restore was a DAILY occurrence. A02 has saved my Dell!

hard reset daily?, that's painful. I'm not patient enough to use something like that I'm sure you're one of the very rare ones that has that problem with 2003se. Mine is already 2 years without a hard reset and seldom do I soft reset.

I've updated my 2 units, and have 2 friends who have updated theirs. All agree that while sometimes the system is slower, many things run faster and overall it's more stable than with 2003. The two biggest problems I see happening to people are installing apps that are NOT WM5 compatible, and Activesync trying to respawn itself constantly draining the battery. With the fake server in place and using magic button to stop Activesync, I left one of them sitting turned off without any charge for 5 days and the battery was still at 93%. I did roll back from A01 as I had nothing but problems when it was first released. With this new update, I haven't had a single problem or the need for a single soft reset since updating at the end of December.

I have to agree with Ivan. I could barely run A01 for 2 days before it all went badly wrong. I've been running A02 for almost 5 weeks and it's been brilliant. It suffers from very occasional slow down but in general use it's quicker than 2003SE and internet browsing is much better on WM5

I've been on WM5 since A02 came out. I'm sticking with it so far. Only trouble was with a progarm that was not on the WM5 approved list. I've had non of the hot battery, dead unit problems of A01.
