Aximsitex50icon Skinning Questions

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to get started skinning some of the popular programs like Wisbar Advance, Pocket Breeze, etc...

I was wondering if there is a certain piece of software that everyone uses or is there another way.

Thanks in advance,
Pam

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I have looked at this guide, but what is used to create the icons, pictures, etc... (.png files, .tsk files, etc...)

I know this is probably a silly question.

Kind Regards,
Pam

For reading/modifying/creating TSK themes, try the free ThemeGenCE program. I believe one of the members here might have written it.

The Amit over at SBSH suggested thislink as an example for creating icons using either Adobe Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, GIF Movie Gear or IconBuilder XP 1.0.

Myself, I often like to play around with The GIMP as it's free and does most of what I as a novice need it to do in the manner of Photoshop.

Thanks,

I actually think that I downloaded that program the other day and didn't install it.

I guess I was looking for a program that would take care of all file types. I am really not sure how to create the "buttons" from scratch.

Thanks again,
Pam

Hi,

I was finishing up my reply when I got yours. Gosh - I should've thought about that - I just purchased Paint Shop Pro XI for my digital camera.

Thanks again for the link,
Pam

One more thing that just came to mind...being an occasional linux user I like to hop over to kde-look.org or gnome-look.org for inspiration on wallpapers, icons, general themes and such. Really great resource to poke around IMHO, plus the items are free and many of the graphical items can be applied to Windows/Windows mobile OSes.

Hi again,

Thanks for those sites. I will investigate them tomorrow. Hopefully, I can jump into the "skinning" arena.

Thanks,
Pam
