They just released ROM A02 for the X50-WM5, it doesn't mean that the X50 is still in production. As long as they're selling the Axims, they're bound to release updates for them.

Not neccessarily. Most companies will shut down new support development well ahead of killing an actual product or product line. And while it's true that the X50s aren't being sold anymore, they are running nearly the same software as the X51s, which would be a serious indication of continued support development.

Product placement is definitely in play here but I stand by the idea that it's the Dell logo that's being advertised and not necessarily the Axim. Just like somebody pointed out, they're not going to use a Dell laptop in that situation.

True, but think about it this way--Dell had to have outbid Palm Inc for that placement slot, considering that they were using Palm Treo smartphones last year. If all Dell wanted out there was their logo, why not sponsor, say, the countless laptops, monitors, and TVs that they must have in that show? It's not like the Axims are Dell's most publicly recognizable product by far.
