I use GSPlayer. It has a lot of sound control enhancemants like equalizer, 3D, reverb, surround. You can save your adjustments and your playlists, the sound quality is great and the battery lasts like forever.
If you search the web you will find a VGA version and two VGA skins.
Well I stuck in there with sorting out HOW to do a playlist on 40iPlay, and it turned out pretty easy, as this is classed as an "Audiophile" application, I am awaiting the delivery of my Sennheiser headphones so I can find out what the quality of this application is REALLY like :-)
Also downloaded all your suggestions guys, many thanks, and will work through them till I find one I am happy with.
Gtech, it sounds like you have a full version of iplay, how much did it cost? Do you have a site to actually purchase it from?

Is there a shuffle option in TCPMP? In CorePlayer there isn't, which is sucha pitty for such a lightweighted player with many options and NowPlaying screen...
40th iPlay is really a nice one with lots and lots of options and preferences, but the author is sucha a paranoic that I had to warez it, just because there is no place to purchase it from. But there are two drawbacks /except being warezed/. The shuffle doesn't "shuffle" very much, and there is almost none playlist editing. You can append files to the playlist or replace. But you can't remove or reposition songs. Or at least in my version.
PocketPlayer is a nice player but again it doesn't have a good playlist manipulation utility.
I used PocketMusic for a long time, but I don't like it's sound quality and it's rather CPU hungry.
GSPlayer was the one I liked most after all.

you can download iPlay here. http://iplay.40th.com/
After you install it the option to purchase it will be available. You pay with Paypal.
Not sure why thats so hard.
The program has a learning curve but its sound quality and bat life are excellent.

You are one of the few lucky people whoes IP address range isn't banned from the site. For some unknown reason and fear the developer has banned almost half the planet from accessing his site. One explanation I heard was that the software wasn't ready for sale outside the USA. Then I tried using USA proxy just to have a peek in the site. Nah. No luck. And I also heard from some USA residents that they are banned to. And when you are banned you see just an

PocketPlayer's gotten much better with the latest release - the playlist management's actually kinda byzantine now due to the sheer number of controls they've put in. :P Still, it's pretty versatile - the main downside is that it's not as lightweight as other players are... but it does have good AVRCP support, as long as you follow the instructions about installing the WMP Plugin Manager.
I was skeptical about the sound quality, but I just tried it out. It does sound better than other players, as it does not sound tinny anymore. I tried it with my Shure e2c's, which have very good high frequency response, and the music sounded good. With TCPMP it was hard to listen sometimes. Yes I am picky.
As for paying $29.99 for a music player, when I already have two good dedicated mp3 players? I think I'll pass.
Since TCPMP is free, plays movies, and is good with system resources, I will stick with it, even though the sound leaves something to be desired.
Maybe I'm a bit nieve, but I still use WMP unless I want a playlist (and it gives you the option to completely turn off the screen while it plays! saves atleast an hour if not more on battery life!)
Otehrwise, TCPMP! and I still have the installs! No crappy p2p coreplayer for me! lol
