Connecting to wirless network that uses VPN? HELP!

My university has a campus-wide wireless network that uses a VPN client (Cisco, to be precise), but they do not offer any software for PDA functionality. I know the X51v comes with it's own VPN setup, as well as Odyssey Client, but I have no idea how to go about setting up the program(s) in order to connect. It would be much preferrable to have access with my PDA all around campus.

Any ideas?

Hi, there is a 4 pages thread where Cisco VPN on Axim 51v is investigated:

http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showt...ight=cisco+VPN

The conclusion was that the built-in VPN program usually isn't enough and you have to use thirdpart VPN-clients. There are different clients but the most succesful seems to be BlueFire VPN (as I used to connect to a Cisco 3000 Concentrator at my campus) and NCP Secure VPN client. Both clients have trials.

You might be able to download the Cisco VPN client for PC pre-configured to connect to your campus VPN. If that is the case, you will find a settings-file in your program directory which will hold most of the details needed for connecting. If you need a group password to connect this password might be encrypted in the file, in which case you should contact the IT-guys at the campus to make them give it to you. Alternatively you can decrypt it from the file.

Hope this helps! If you have further questions you could ask them in the old thread I linked you too, just to keep Cisco + VPN stuff together for future reference.

Greetings and good luck,
Thomas

Hey jovalleu. You're not by chance at UCL? I have the same problem there, but there is no VPN client available that support hybrid connection or something like that.

Anyone in the military? I made a free eBay-type site for all military personnel:

Anyone ever figure out these settings? I am at Penn State as well and have been frutlessly trying to connect my PDA for about a week now. My IT department is pretty clueless, so I must figure this out on my own.
