Why my X51v Ram much smaller than 64Mb?

start->settings->memory

The RAM total just 49.47mb

storage total is 195.01

and system information show me
Processor Type : Intel PXA270
Processor Speed:624 MHz
RAM size 64mb
ROM size 256mb
Rom Version A06

Why my X51v Ram much smaller than 64Mb?

Yep, these guys will do it, but it'll cost you $170....

has anyone done this???

I was thinking of a major mod to my x51v... and a boost in ram like that would make the mod actually usable....

Yes, I had Pocket PC Techs do the upgrade to 128MB of memory on my x51v. They did a great job and it was done very quickly. Thanks Pocket PC Techs.
My x51v now reads:
Program Total: 113.39 MB

I want to say it runs faster but maybe it does not run slower when I have several applications open at once. Anyway, I'm glad I did it. The x51v is now almost the perfect pocket pc for my use and applications.

Also, there is a Pocket PC Techs discount for Axim members. Check in the members discount area for the code.

Here is the link to the Pocket PC Techs code that I used. I know it is old but they still honored it for the memory upgrade.

Tell us what you have noticed about battery drain. Have you noticed a difference there?

Yes, I am also interested in the upgrade. My free program memory is around 22MB after a soft reset and down to 15-16 after running it for a while. My device can feel awful sluggish when launching programs after a while. How much program memory do you have free after this upgrade and what does your battery life look like now as compared to before? I imagine that this upgrade voids the warranty and even if it didn't, if you had to send the device back, you would just get a 64MB refurb and be out the $170. I guess this is something to wait on until after the warranty is expired.

Again, you can get 10% discount using the link I listed in the above message. Thats $169-$16.9=about $153. Still not cheap but to me it was worth it. The battery life is still very good. I did not notice much difference in battery life, though I am sure it is some what less. I still get about 5 hours reading a book with medium backlight on using a 1100ma battery. I will do some time measurements the next 2 weeks and report back.

Hope this helps.
