"Reformat" not hard reset? battery latch error, crank charger?

Hello,

I am wondering if there is a way to "reformat" my axim and clear it back to how i got it, a hard reset doesnt clear away my installed files etc. id like to make sure i dont have any left over registry stuff or extra files from stuff ive uninstalled and such, also id like to not have to buy a specific program for it :)

Also I keep getting an error that says the battery latch was opened and it wasnt, its not a problem it puts it into sleep mode and then i just press power and say okay to the warning, but a way to stop this?

Thirdly, and the main reason i posted here is there a crank charger available for an Axim x51v? ive seen chargers for ipods and usb powered things... ive seen some flashlights that power things that are 30 dollars some that are 70, id like to spend less, not sure if id even buy it as dont know if id ever want to use it.

thanks - jason

UHHHH....a hard reset DOES reformat your PDA. a hard reset brings it back to factory default settings, just like you bought it.

As AFX points out, a hard reset does put the PPC back to 'factory default' (really, back to the last ROM upgrade if you've done any).

The battery latch is a common issue that can usually be fixed by placing a bit of masking tape to the end of the right post on the door so that it fully depresses the switch inside the hole.

I've never heard of a crank charger for PPCs. The Axim uses a lot more power than a flashlight so you'd probably be cranking continuously if the screen, WiFi and/or Bluetooth is on.
