unread messages zombies after restore

Hi,
recently I made a PIM databases only backup while I had a couple of unread messages in an account called "private". Later I did a hard reset and restore from that backup.
First I thought it was great that the today screen now again shows the number of unread messages. However, I cannot read or delete these messages. Messenger cannot be started by tapping on the number of unread messages.
Please note, that this is NOT the problem where the messenger cannot be started - it can be started, but it has no "private" account. This account cannot be created, because "another account with this name already exists".

Well, I thought this might be a x51v/WM5/Backup App bug, so I did another hard reset, created my "private" account and carried out a restore, in order to have all messages "sorted" into the right account. To my surprise the account was removed and I still cannot delete the messages.
Is this a known issue? What to do?
Best regards
JR
