Got my X51v from expansys as Dell did't reply to any emails I sent them. Plus it ended up being 4 euros cheaper than from Dell. My X51v is an English version but the manual is in French and I live in Spain.
Is it possible to do a full backup of the thing including WM5. Having had to re-install XP on a few mahines, with problems. I was wondering if anyone has had to do this on a Dell ppc. And if so is WM5 on the CD that came with the ppc.

No, you should never need to re-install the operating system (unless you elect to upgrade and then revert): a simple hard reset restores the unit to factory condition.
Backing up files and dynamic settings (applications, etc) is recommended in order to safegaurd your configuration and documents, there are several methods of acheiving this but the most common is to use ActiveSync.
WM5 is on read-only memory.
When you do a hard reset (press the power button and the little hole on the back),
it will revert your axim back to factory default.
All the other programs that you install will be lost.
