Keeping wifi / bluetooth network alive during active sync

Hey

I'm trying to connect my notebook through my Axim x51v to connect to the internet through my work network. The reason is complicated but basically I can't get my notebook on the work network.

I am running A12 with Widcomm BT Hack. I have also installed Menneisyys' web proxy through Creme 4.11. If I connect my Axim to phone via BT and Axim to notebook via wifi I can browse on notebook. So the proxy server is working.

I can connect the notebook to the Axim via BT and wifi and both connect without problems, can ping each other and stay connected.

The problem is as soon as I dock the Axim and activesync kicks in the connection (BT or wifi) is dropped.

I'm running ActiveSync 4.5 Beta on XP box, with "Allow wireless connection on device when connected to the desktop" enabled. I have switched by Axim to sync using the "old style" USB connection by disabling advanced network options.

It still drops the connection every time I dock. Is this a lost cause or is there a hack to keep the connection alive

Thanks for any input

There's an application called Airfix which disables connmgr.exe which allows you to keep your wifi connection while docked. Unfortunately, it is useless if your purpose is to access the internet. I'm trying to share an internet connection too from my pda using HTTPSnoopProxy to my laptop, but since airfix disables the internet, I don't see this happening. Maybe you can get this to work keep us posted.

If you install a program called Card Export on your Ax, then Active Sync wont start when you are docked.

But I guess that's not what you want, I assume that you want AS to connect.

Hey

I've got HTTPSnoopProxy to work but only while my phone is connected to Ax via bluetooth, then no problem to connect to wifi to notebook. But I want to connect to internet through my work network without physically connecting the notebook to. I'd hoped to do this using HTTPSnoopProxy but ActiveSync kills all other connections.

I hope the "wireless" connection referred to in not just GPRS or cellular, but hey, typical M$, leave it as generic as possible so no one knows for sure

Card Export doesn't give the desired results. I need the internet access from Ax to PC

Thanks for input anyway

OK, going out on a limb here...

Async together with WiFi has been deactivated in ASync 4.x and yet there are some instances of people running Wifi cards while connected to ASync, but they are running PPC 2003 devices.

Airfix, which kills connmgr.exe, allows ASync connections, but not internet connection, together with WiFi.

Maybe running connmgr.exe from a PPC 2003 device, ie X50 would enable ASync to run with WiFI. Does anyone have access to connmgr.exe from a x50?

Might be worth a bash.

Why not do everything wireless ly. cellular - gpsr/bluetooth - axim; axim/HTTPSnoopProxy - adhoc/ICS - laptop. That will work.

Thats possible and works, but the desktop that connects to the internet, via network, has no BT or WiFi connection and I can't add anything because it's a company PC (it has free internet access). Only thing can do is connect through USB and, hence, ASync.

Can anyone get hold of connmgr.exe from a PPC2003 x50(v). If there are still any of those around
