How to retrieve v51 serial number? (coding)

This is probably answered (Yea or Nea) somewhere in the forums, so if you can just point me there, that would be great.

Is there a source code way to retrieve a unique number/serial number from a Dell AXIM v50+, in the same way as you can do so from IPAQs?

The IPAQ answer:
> How to get UUID number from HP iPAQ Pocket PC in Native C++
http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/Sho...00797&SiteID=1

Thanks
~Bill

Is this what you are looking for?

Start>Settings> (System tab)> System Information

Actually -- looking for Source Code Serial No. example

Hi Susan:

Actually -- I am looking for the VC++/etc code to retrieve the serial number or unique ID (if this is also available on the Dell platform; as it has been on the IPAQ for some years.)

UUID would be ok as well.

We have recently started to use Dells over IPAQs for customer solutions -- and how to pull a Dell serial number is a remaining question that we need to resolve.

Thanks
~Bill

This is probably what you're looking for: OEMIoControl
Look at IOCTL_HAL_GET_UUID.

This is not exactly the source code way that billsh asked for, is it ?

I understand that he wants an automatically mean to keep track of many x50's,
but IMBW :p

Thank you for a good answer - UUID/Serial No. code

This is along the lines of what we are at least asking -- we're taking a look at it now.

Thank you for the response (and I sent you a PM as well).

Zaniax - thanks

Thanks for your response -- and yes -- the goal is to be able to track 100's of Dells. We used to use IPAQs for everything, but are trying out Dells now on a large project -- and did not have the IPAQ internal unique ID to work with.
