Icon14 Interesting battery observation!

At least to me anyway.:) yesterday I had my Axim turned on with the WLAN on as well. Now keep in mind this is with a stock 100 mah battery. I got busy and turned the screen off (unit still powered up with WLAN on) and forgot about it. This morning I hit the power button and realized it was still on! The first thing I did was turn off the WLAN and looked at the battery level. 29%! I was actually surprised it lasted that long especially with the WLAN turned on! Roughly about 17+ hours. Of course there was nothing being used and it was dormant, but I was still surprised it still had any power! At first I thought oh man I lost all power over night and wondered what effect that would have had? Anyway, just a cool little obsrvation and sign of RELIEF lol!;)

The WLAN and BT radios get turned off when you go into standby and the state gets saved so that they are switched back on when you come out of standby. They shouldn't have been on all that time...

Uncanny, though I need not worry with 3300mAh still, at least now I know that I can save on power while Y Go! and EMOZE do their thing.. :D

Edit: Wait nevermind. *sees the new post above*

Cool. Thanks and I kinda figured that as for sure I would have thought the battery was drained. least I know though how long i can go on standby and if I forget again the future I won't worry as much lol. Besides it's good to take the battery down once in a while like that. good charging maintenance. I Switch it out with my spare stock battery now and then as well. :)

When I first got my X51v, I thought "holy sh@t, the battery level drops like a brick !" I immediately ordered a generic 2200mAh one.

Well, when I did get a bigger battery, I decided to do a little endurance test on the old one. It lasted waaay longer than I expected it to.

This is not to say that the stock battery life is great (it isn't), but I think there're two things I've noticed:

- the battery indicator seemed to be dropping the fastest initially, with fully charged battery, slowing down towards 60%. I've got no proof but this seemed to be the case.

- I come from WM2003 world, where 25% battery level was a bad thing - better recharge immediately, or backup, or else. On Ax, 25% still gives you a good hour and a half of moderate use (e.g. reading or playing music). If you run dry you won't lose any data (as long as you save it on time). (Don't know how it affects the long term life of the battery since I don't run it dry).
