I've tried to align the screen a few times and each time I press the stylus to the target, it moves to the next target, and after doing it 5 times it just starts over. After a few times around the block I finally (soft) reboot. It's working ok but I just can't ever finish a screen alignment. A06. The screen doesn't even appear to be off by much but every once in a while Baseball Addict refuses to swing when I click so I figured I'd try realigning.
I haven't done a hard reset yet but I may have to consider that.
You should try to clean dust from under the edges of the casing where it meets with the screen. You could use a business card or a sheet of paper and run a corner of the paper through to clear some of the dust.
Another problem may be the case that came with the x51v, it may put pressure on the screen and may cause a problem like the one you are having.

I find that alignment is less tapping and more pressing; the application of the stylus to the screen is surprisingly firm. Try gently increasing the pressure on the cross-hairs during the cycle to see if that does the trick - this is not stabbing at the screen (tapping fast and hard) it's more press with more pressure (if that makes sense)

I'll have to remove the screen protector first. I think it's about time I got a few more anyway.
I'm using an extended battery with a metal case that doesn't seem to put any pressure on the screen. My ownly complaint about the case was that it's slippery but I put a few sticker things on it and that made it much easier to grip. I guess that should be a separate thread though.

It does make sense and seems to work. I still went around three times or so but it did exit after that. Thanks. Sort of odd that it would work though. If it responds to a press by moving to the next target, why would it need pressing harder?
The contact material between the outer screen and the inner screen may have been pushed outward and away from the center of your screen through use and the application of the screen protector. Another issue may be your screen is going bad. I have had both take place. Removing my screen protector and gently pushing back and forth on the screen seemed to help me with the first case. The second case nothing would work. I ended up have to get a replacement from Dell. Another plus for getting the 2 year complete care protection when I got my X51V.
No backup battery is correct thats because of the ROM based system. Sounds like you need to get a replacement from Dell assuming your have that option.

No such option anymore

Protector has been on there since I started to use it though, never had any problems before, but it does sound like something like that or some dust particle because indeed at times it works just perfectly and at times REALLY weird..
so any guesses? Should I just remove the screen protector I was so fortunate to get on quite ok and try that?
