Not a good day for the axim

Well today my Dell Axim X51 Mid decided to stop working. I was working today and then I was pulling it out of my pocket from up on a ladder, stupid Dell slip case. It slipped right out of my hand, fell from about 10 feet. It wont even turn on now. sniff sniff....kinda sucks seeing as I just spent all my available cash on a car. Guess I'll be pda less for a while.

I agree.... you must fiddle with every possible combination before giving up... after my Axim's first fall, I thought it was dead... turns out the lock was on and probably was "locked" to the off position by a temporary batterie disconnect... because after unlocking and trying just about everything I could think of, I had a very happy powering up bluescreen... and it's worked fine ever since.... I'll keep my fingers crossed for you....

Alright, how would I go about doing this check of the battery connection?

I've tryed taking the battery out and then putting it back in, still nothing.

Have you looked to see if the lock on the left side of the Axim (near the top) is in the locked position? If so, push it down to "unlock" and try powering up again...
And do so in the craddle to see if battery level is also an issue at the moment....

On a ladder with your Axim? Are you a home inspector?

Try submerging the Axim in a bucket of water. Do bubbles come up? If yes, the you're fine.

I'M KIDDING!!! DON'T SUBMERGE THE AX!!! Check that the battery latch isn't damaged. That's a known gotcha.

Nope the lock button wasn't turned on. No I'm not a home inspector. No response from the cradle either. I tryed putting it on the cradle without the battery and with the battery and there was no repsonse from either.

You might try opening it up to see if the fall just knocked a connector loose. It's probably a long shot, but it seems you have little to lose. I don't know about the X51, but on my X30 you can unscrew the back panel with a little screwdriver as comes in an eyeglass repair kit.

So sorry. I can only imagine the

Did you have any memory cards in it? Try taking them out and even doing a hard reset key combo. Check that no debris is in any of the card sockets, or embedded around any of the buttons or around the screen. Check for any cracks in the case, really just thoroughly look it over. Even scratches or small cracks might lead you to where a connector may have come undone.

All else, might speak to the guys at ppc techs

Try removing the battery, removing all memory cards, check the battery latch (won't run unless closed, and the battery latch is quite fragile), plug into power and press the reset button on the back.
