Just upgraded to ActiveSync 4.5...need help

In prepping for DST, I upgraded to ActiveSync 4.5 and immediately I could no longer sync with the computer I had been previously. It kept giving me an error I tracked down to "exchanger server" in outlook...I don't have an exchange server...no access to an exchange server...I spent 2 hours on this yesterday and I came too close to throwing the Axim against a door to continue. So..does anyone have ANY suggestions?

Go to MY PDA and look under modifications and click the "fake Server trick" that should help. I think what is happening is AS is looking for an exchange server and you need to correct that with your PDA. Don't forget to leave feedback about my PDA.

I had upgraded a short time ago as well and ran into problems but figured it out. When AS installed it didn't remove the beta, I had 2 entries in the control panel. I removed both, reinstalled AS and it's working again. Windows...........

If you use Sprint DB Pro or HanDbase then you will not be able to sync at all with 4.5 but these programs work (marginally) with 4.2. I say marginally because they conflict with PhatNotes and with Cash Organizer. MS is destroying all database syncronization capability for some reason.

I had the same problem. Several times, I erased and redownloaded 4.5, but sync went into constant loop. Then I did a soft reset on the Axim, and the sync went OK. What a relief.
New problem: even tho I downloaded the daylight savings patch, my Axim didn't make the change. So I just did it manually.

I don't know about Sprint DB Pro, but I can and do sync HanDBase with AS 4.5(beta) just fine. Your comment, however, gives me yet another reason to pause before updating As to 4.5

Well, I am glad that HanDBase is working for you. There may be an issue with my system in this case. It works with 4.2 for me but it did not with 4.5 beta and 4.5. I went back to 4.2 and it worked but I had other conflicts. I will have to fish this out.

It occurred to me that the sync'ing of HanDBase files occurs through the WM_username My Documents folder, which only requires AS to sync files. If you're having problems with HanDBase, check that you have a HanDBase3 folder in My Documents that contains your databases.

I HanDbase is not my favorite database program. I used it in the beginning but then switched to SprintDB. When I could not get SpringDB to sync in 4.5 I tried to load HanDbase and tried to sync once. It did not work for me. I probably did something wrong there because it is not my usual system. I just assumed that it was the same problem as with Sprint. I stand corrected. Jumped to conclusions.

But, my main program has been SprintDb Pro. I just wrote the Sprint people and the wrote right back. That is one thing I like about SprintDB Pro, their customer service is great. Apparently there was a significant change in AS 4.5 which made their Access Synchronization plug in to fail. They are making an upgrade that will be out soon to correct the problem.

I am in the habit of when ever I install new software on my Axim I do a soft reset as a matter of procedure.

Does anyone know if Activesync 4.5 needs the "fake server trick" or is it possible that they actually fixed the program? I noticed that it does have an option for: sync when required.
