Random App closing

I'm not sure what is causing this, but every once in a while when running any application, the app just shuts down and returns me to my today screen. I've tried soft and hard resets but the problem persists. Any ideas or solutions would be appreciated.

after hardreset, did you reinstall everything back on, or did you test with the default programs?

How many programs do you have running in the background? It sounds like you're running out of program memory. Windows mobile doesn't quit a program when you "close" it. It minimizes it. Unless you're running a 3rd party task manager that actually closes programs, you may have a bunch running and not realize it. Check the Running Programs tab of the Memory control panel and see how long the list is.

Have you disabled the Today screen time out? It returns the PDA to the Today screen after a set amount of idle time.

Start -> Settings -> Personal -> Today -> Items -> Today timeout (towards the bottom) -> untick.

That only sets the Axim to return to the Today screen after a power-up, if it hasn't been on for the timeout period. Once the Axim is on, this setting is ignored.

I'd also suggest Pocket Mechanic (which I have) or SK tools or something similar as it's sure helped me maintain my X51v and very seldom have issues anymore. Just a thought. Pocket Mechanic has some real good maintenance tools in it. I was amazed at how a little preventive and regular maintenance has helped so much!;)

Ah ha, thanks, that lines up better with my experience of the setting. It's fairly worthless IMO, but I'm sure someone must have a need for it.

I'd recommend vBar as a simple memory manager.
