Pocket Breeze - question about PC app

I'm trying out the trial ver. I was wondering if there was something that would be used so that I could sit at my PC and input appoitments and tasks rather than using the stylus? Would make things a whole lot easier.

Input them through outlook and activesync it, just like we normally did with or without pocket breeze?

I was just going to say that myself. Make sure that your PC is set to sync everything with your PDA, then fire up outlook, not Outlook Express, and just enter notes and tasks and they'll get put on your Axim for you.

If you haven't installed Outlook already (from MS Office or the CD that came with your Axim) then you will have to install it and then delete and re-create the partnership with activesync on your PC in order to sync.

I'd also say use Outlook since you'll probably want to sync anyway, but if you're looking for a more general use way to use your desktop keyboard and mouse for input on the Ax I use Desktop Rover. I tried a couple of other "remote control" products but found them a little slow and of course they take up space on your desktop. Rover just extends your desktop to your docked Pocket PC and lets you move your mouse to the PPC screen. Once there you can use your desktop keyboard for input. It's not free but I've found it well worth the price.

dotPocket Desktop will mirror your PDA to the desktop nicely. I use it all the time.

Actually, between PocketBreeze and templates in PocketInformant I prefer to enter and maintain my PIM data (Appointments, Tasks, Contacts) on my PDA. I only use Outlook as an extra backup (just in case, you know).

I use Remote Keyboard. It's a cool little program and it's free.

You can use them both, just use Outlook for creating notes and things to sync with your Axim and Outlook Express for emails.

That is, unless you *want* to use Outlook for everything, in which case I think you can import all your mail from Express into normal Outlook though you may have to export it from Express first....

Outlook is a much more rounded application than Express, it has a lot of time management features and is generally more useful. Granted there are some complete misfeatures but in normal use you're not going to find them, only when you're trying to do some special jobs.

Hi Beavereater :)

Following your question I think that a good additional explanation will be that PocketBreeze is working 'on-top' of the default PIM databases that are located on your Pocket PC and will automatically sync with your desktop Outlook using ActiveSync.

All of the information that is displayed/entered with PocketBreeze is stored/taken from the default PIM databases on the device. This means that once you sync your information it will also be synced with your desktop Outlook, and this also means that the same information will also be visible on the default Calendar/Tasks/Contacts applications that you have on your Pocket PC.

This is true for almost all of the information apart from special features that are offered by the PocketBreeze display individually, such as the ability to assign category icons to your categories etc., which will only be visible on your PocketBreeze display since this is not supported by the sync layout with your desktop and Outlook on your PC.

I hope that this helps a bit too :)
