If you're working with Microsoft, have they already directed you here?

Also, take a look at Microsoft's SyncToy 1.4 for Vista. This isn't related to your problem, I think, but if you get it working it might be a handy app.

BTW, welcome to Aximsite!

Vista and Axim x51v do not sync

My new Dell Inspiron 1501 and my Axim x51v do not sync. I have read that if UBC to PC is unchecked on the Axim, they will sync. I have tried looking for the UBC to PC under connections on my Axim.

UBC to PC does not appear under "connections" on my Axim x51v. I have downloaded the app http://www.utstar.com/pcd/downloads/...yncMode.sa.CAB that is supposed to install the UBC to PC, but installing and running the app. does not cause the UBC to PC to appear under connections. It does not seem to make a difference.

I have removed and then downloaded “windows mobile device center 6” as recommended by Dell, and this has not helped. The device center syncs, but does not transfer information. :exc:

So does the “Microsoft Driver Update for Axim UBC sync” solve this problem? I have tried the windows update in Vista, and the "Microsoft Driver Update for Axim USB sync" says failed “code 800705B4”. I can’t find this failure code nor know if there is a fix to it.
Dell support says I need a patch which doesn't exist yet.

So I am still struggling with this problem. I can go back to using XP from using Vista. I can revert back to XP, but need to save all my files, as they will be deleted. Dell support will walk me through. Maybe this is rthe answer?

Vista sync oddity

I finally got the Axim x51 to sync with my new Vista PC. But it only syncs with Windows Media Center- damn thing loaded 365 pictures and songs onto the Axim automatically!
Is there some way to gain control over this sync system?

Thanks,

paul DeLeeuw

Vista Axim Sync problem solved

I found the solution. There is a utility called Windows Mobile Device Center, which does what ActiveSync used to do in XP. Problem is, the version shipped with Vista doesn't work with Axims. So this is what you have to do:
1. Uninstall your current version of Windows Mobile Device Center (it uninstalls like a regular program)
2. Go to http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...icecenter.mspx using Internet Explorer (NOT Firefox) and download the new Windows Mobile Device Center
3. Install it with the Pocket PC disconnected
4. Connect your Axim
This has worked for me and several of my friends.

Are you using Windows Live care? If so then go to the adavanced setting of the firwall, you will see a check mark to allow you to sync via Windows Mobile device.

Hi Paul,

First, I just want to say that this is my first post on this site. I've joined the forum because I read what you wrote about the Windows Mobile Device Center and I have to tell you... I've installed it onto my new laptop (Sony Vaio) which has Windows Vista, and it does sync my Axim to my Outllook... but it syncs it minimally. All of my contacts are synced, but my calender in Outlook does not sync with my AXIM at all. How do I solve this problem? Do I download some other additional program for this to work? Please let me know because it's a real pain in the butt! Thanks

Aximsiteactivesyncicon 2 Axim X51v's only one syncs after solution

Pdl1:
Thanks again for the solution to the problem with Vista and syncing my Axim X51v. Because I have 2 Axim X51v's it appears I had to follow the steps in the above solution twice, because only one of the X51v's worked after the first time. However, this may have been a coincidence. Either way both are syncing with my Toshiba laptop now. Thanks again.

THANKS! You posted the only reply I could understand, and it WORKED. Got my axim x51v synced to 32 bit vista mobile device manager. I see some glitches but expect i'll be able to figger them out. I have a new toshiba satellite, and followed your procedure, removing mobile device feature, then downloading windows update driver (had to google to hit that address you posted, and be patient, took about half an hour). Then it synced up, remembering mostly how i had it set up with my old dell with xp.
By the way, someone was asking about connecting the axim to the web, well, it will "pass thru" the usb to your laptop, OR connect via wifi or a router.
Your post much appreciated.
