Audio Books

I was looking at audio book availability and the authors that I`m interested in all seem to be so expensive.
Is it not possible to make up your own books from cd? Or is a converter required?

If you can rip the CD to Windows Media Player as a .wma file then you should be able to sync it to the Axim. It'll look like a song to the media player but I think that's what you are trying to do.

Yeah, I use CDex to rip the Audiobook CDs to mp3 and then just copy the files to a CF or SD card. TCPMP keeps track of where you were in a song or, in this case, an audiobook track so when you exit and re-open TCPMP it is as simple as pressing play to restart where you left off.

CDex: http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/

TCPMP: http://picard.exceed.hu/tcpmp/test/

There are other options for ripping (dBPoweramp for one) and playing (mortplayer, gsplayer...), it's all about what you find easiest and suits your style.

Please have patience-- how does one convert a Spanish language text file to a Mexican Spanish audio file? I understand that once one has an audio file, either wma or mp3, one can download it and listen to it on the axim.

If necessary, I can tape myself reading the text, but the point is to practice listening to good Spanish speakers!

Provided you own the audiobook in cd or tape format, you can convert it to put it on your pda, but you have to either own the audio version or take the time to read it out loud yourself and record it.

No real way around the price of audio books except to spend the hours reading it to tape yourself.
