USB Tethering X51v/Motorola

Since a few people are having issues Bluetooth tethering a Motorola v3xx to a Dell Axim I was wondering if anyone has tried doing a USB tether instead?

I have seen people do it with a laptop, but that requires special drivers. Are drivers available for the Axim?

The Axim doesn't have USB Host, therefore can't be used to drive a USB connection.

When you try and pair the two devices via bluetooth does the Microsoft stack have problems finding the DUN profile? If so there is a registry hack on this site that will help you get it.

However I will say that the Widcomm Bluetooth stack is better on so many levels then the Microsoft stack that I would recommend using that. It's stickied at the top of this forum :)

However, there are companies such as Gomadic that make phone to PDA cables, but these tend to be for the older non-BT enabled phones.

The phone actually connects via BT without any issues, using both the MS stack and the WIDCOMM stack. I can use the connection for several minutes before the BT link bombs out.

Looking around online a bit, it appears this is a general issue with the new Motorola phone (v3xx) and certain devices (iPAQ, Axim and certain laptops).
