Axim always dying

Okay I have an axim x51v. I bought it off ebay about 8 months ago. It usually works fine. But it seems like if I don't use it for a week or so then I'll go to use it and the battery will be dead. The axim won't turn on if i do a soft reset. I have it set to automatically turn off after 5 minutes of being idle. And I have it set that when I press the power button it doesn't shut down, but it turns off. Could there be somethign else going on here? I tried to talk to dell through their chat thing but I Got no response after 15 min of waiting. I figured I'd come here to talk to you geniuses. Can someone help me out??

I forgot to mention that normally when I stop using it for a week or so the battery is never less than 50%.

Welcome to the Aximsite.
Make sure that your wifi is disabled when you turn your Axim off. Also you can keep it in the charger when your not using it.

Well... its not my first time here ;) ... lol.

But most of the time I am not near my charger when this happens. How do I turn the wifi off?

On your today screen or in connections go to WLAN and disable your wifi.

Alright well I went into connection, and settings and the WLAN Utility, and under power it says "WLAN OFF", and Power Save mode: Auto. Is this right? I Didn't change anything. Should I change something? How long will these settings take effect for?

ALso... I read on this siste that it could be because of the active sync running in the background. Is this true? Should I Do the fake server trick?

You can turn the wireless mode off without going to menus, the button
on the left side of 51v immediately below the system lock switch can be
used,1 press brings popup saying to disable wifi/bluetooth press again
within 5 seconds.
If you want to start from factory fresh setting do a HARD RESET,but
do a full system back up first to your CF or SD card.

I am sorry bigstr, but I do not see that button anywhere on the left side of my axim. I do not want to do a hard reset.

Hoggie3, this has happened to me when I leave my axim turned off for a few days then turn it back on. It will usually be dead.

Be sure you are really turning the Axim off and not just dimming the display. A tap of the power button does not turn mine off, rather it simply dims the display. The processor, et al, are still running and will eventually drain the battery if not in the cradle or connected to a power source.

To turn it off, hold the power button in until a "Full power off" warning comes up (with a "ding"). You can then hit OK, or whatever, and it will shut all the way down.

an axim not used for a week or more will normally use up your battery, 'cause no matter what you "turn off", it's still going to use up your battery. An Axim is never, truly off. It uses the power to keep it 'alive'.

best bet is to find some way to keep it charged and 'topped-up' every chance you get. especially if you're not going to use for a week or more between uses..

If an Axim ever completely shut down, it would not be able to give you reminders alarms, so it is always running to some degree.
