X50v/X51v LCD & digitizer flex cables

There is information at www.epinions.com/content_215020834436 about detaching the LCD/digitizer from the motherboard.
Part of the instructions say "Looking at the back, along the bottom right-hand side of the green board, there are two golden, flat plugs. The wide one belongs to the LCD, and the other [with four leads] is the digitizer input. You will need to pull both of these tabs out. These digitizer tab is held in by a little white clip. Pull the white clip out and release that tab. The large LCD tab can be undone by flipping up the black bar where it goes in. Once both are detached, you can take the screen out of the housing.".

I am looking at a disassembled X50v and even with this information I just can't figure out how to pull these tabs out. I don't want to damage the motherboard by experimenting.

Firstly, I don't have 'two golden, flat plugs'.
I have a beige digitizer connector with two white bits attached.
The LCD connector has a white strip and a black strip.

The above quote mentions flat plugs then talks about tabs. Are these the same thing? I assume they are.

Do these tabs fully detach from the motherboard or are they hinged?

On my motherboard the digitizer 4 lead flex cable is held in by a beige tab with two small white bits either side and close to the flex cable. These white bits each have a very small arm with a hooked end which fits into a slot in the beige tab and appears to be gripping it.
Am I right in assuming the beige tab can be completely detached from the motherboard while the two white bits are anchor points which are permanently attached to the motherboard?
If so, how do I remove the beige tab without damaging the flex cable or the two small white arms?
How do I reinstall later?

The LCD flex cable is held in by a black piece (i think it's called a latch).
This is a thin black strip next to a white strip of similar size.
The black latch appears to be attached at either end to very tiny white pieces.
It looks like there is a very small black bit at the end of the black latch which might be used to lift to latch so it is vertical. So I'm guessing that this black latch is permanently attached to the motherboard and just rotates to the vertical position.
How do I reinstall later?

I've had to use a magnifier to see these parts as they are so tiny.
It doesn't seem possible to 'open' these LCD/digitizer flex cable connectors using a finger as I've seen mentioned elsewhere.
Perhaps I'm totally misunderstanding the whole procedure.

Any advice would be much appreciated.
