I'm in the market for a PDA and it currently looks like the X51v is what I'm probably going to get - seems to meet my needs and budget.
So to all the current owners, if your current PDA goes away today would you buy the X51v tomorrow? If not, what would you buy? And if I do get the X51v what should I really know about and/or do the first day I get it? I do plan to look through the forum s in much more depth but just thought I'd throw the question out to the masses.
I already own one and it is amazing!!!
If you do end up getting one make sure you get the total care accident warranty. It saved me once already.
Also I would recommend a screen protector, I would never use my ax w/o it but if you ask people on aximsite you will get a lot of different answers. Ive got one from shieldzone.com and it has a lifetime warranty which is amazing!
if it met my needs... or if my personal needs were the same as when i bought my x50v.. then yes.
my needs have changed since then... but i would still recomend it if you don't need a built in phone

Ok, so I was mistaken. I have the 51v. They look so similar...
Anyway, what I said still stands. It had everything I needed when I wanted to upgrade my PDA. And, as I mentioned, my father, who is now in the market for a new PDA, is considering the 51v based off what he's seen in mine.
I love my x51v and if I needed to get another ppc, I would buy another in a heartbeat.
when you get one, you need to charge it for eight hours, I think, and I would agree with the many people here that a good screen protector and a case are vital. The next step is trying the software you'd like for your uses. Needs and uses vary, so exploring the threats and the guides is most helpful. For example, I didn't know when I bought my axim that software for tuning instruments was available; when I found out, I tried and then bought it. I use the Axim daily for this and the usual pim and many, many other functions. One of the best things I've ever purchased.
I would definitely buy the X51v again in a heartbeat. I love its capabilities!

The best move I ever made was moving to a Treo from my X50v. However, the X50v was a great pda. It still is really. The x51 is also good. I'd probably go with one or the other again.
I was long time Palm user and bought my used x51v two months ago. I simply love it and would highly recommend anyone go with it, even other brand owners. I also carry a tiny cell phone, and since cell phone models change so rapidly and are very available for cheap (my current phone model is on e-bay for $24.95 new!!) I will never want a combined phone/PDA. Enjoy your new Axim and welcome.
