Frustrating DST Problem. Can anyone help?

I've searched for answers for my question, both here and on M$, but haven't found the right information, and I'm getting more and more confused and frustrated. I'm hoping one of the gurus on this board can help me restore my sanity. Here's the situation:

I synchronize my x50v with my desktop at the office. Now that DST has changed, I'm experiencing the time shift error. After looking on Microsoft's support website (big, confusing, and too technical for me), there doesn't seem to be a viable patch available since I need to keep my systems on XP Pro SP1. We're a small office, and my desktop is the server, so I'm very careful about "rocking the boat". The reason I need to stick with SP1, is that we have a networked real estate listing program that is not completely compatible with SP2.

Is there a DST patch for XP Pro users that have SP1? Also once this is done, is the next step to update my Outlook 2003 with the TZmove patch? And lastly, after both are done, do I then update my x50v with the patch?

Couldn't Congress do something more useful with their time rather than making people's lives more frustrating?

This problem should have gone away by now. The "old" DST period is in play, so even if you didn't do anything, if both the PC and Ax are set for DST, you should be accurate. If not, then check that both are in the same timezone and both are set for DST.

Thanks for the reply! :approve:

The problem is still there, which seems to be affecting my calendar by advancing my appointments by 1 hour. I've found a temporary fix by setting my Axim to Central Time (I'm on the East Coast), but I'd like to have a more permanent solution.

Sorry to disagree with you Jake, but the DST problem has not and will not go away. At the very least, it will recur for a week in October.

Unfortunately, you may have an even larger problem if you have any shared calendars in your office. It may even be a problem if you don't share calendars, but instead send appointments to each other's calendars. If this is the case, you'll want to update all PC's that have access to the shared calendars.

Roowah, your only solution since you're stuck with XP SP1 may be to use Microsoft's tzedit.exe utility.

According to Microsoft's site:

Quote:
All versions of Windows can be manually updated using the tzedit.exe utility or other techniques documented in Knowledge Base article 914387 and similar articles for other countries, which is the preferred method of remediation for any product outside of Mainstream Support.

What I meant by "gone away" is that we are now inside the "old" DST period, so theoretically even without an update his machine should have shifted to DST automatically and the times should now match. Yes, it will rear its ugly head again in October, but if he's seeing it now, then something else is wrong and he needs to fix that first, then he can work on the DST problem.
