Downgrading From WM5

I've had my new X51v for about 6 weeks now and the newness is worn off. One of the initial frustrations that I had was that some of my old software from my HP would not work because of the operating system. I am thinking about whether or not it would be a good idea to downgrade to WM2003 as opposed to spending more money on software. Here are my questions

1) Where can I download a ROM with WM2003SE?
2) Can I get a copy of my A12ROM (incase later I realize that this was not a good idea)

Would also like opinions on this thought, am I not thinking right by considering the downgrade?

Thanks in advance for the comments and advice.

Can a x50v be upgraded to WM5, and later downgrade back to Wm2003SE?

The X50x can be upgraded to wm5.. and indeed a great many of us did upgrade it.. (by using the upgrade that we had to purchase from Dell) and then downgraded it again (using the free 'downgrade' on the dell website) because it didn't work properly, caused devices to freeze, and halved the speed of them.

(and no.. the x50x downgrade won't work for the X51x no matter how clever you try to be...)

Thus the beauty of the x50v, you can run 2003SE and WM5 amit poorly but it does run, it has backup battery and can have its Ram upgraded...

I have some old software like Guitar tuner and other things that I use quiet regular, but software is soon updating to WM5 and eventually probably 2003SE wont be supported as much, so why not just stick with WM5 and try and source an alternative software...

The X50v can run either, but I don't recommend that you switch back and forth. Going to WM5 then back once is OK, but remember that you're flashing the rom and changing the portion that was BIS to persistent ram. Doing this too much quite possibly may give you a paperweight.

Thanks!

Thanks for the responses. Something inside me said this might not be a good idea and I am glad I asked the question. I guess it is like my Vista upgrade, I just need to realize that old software needs to be replaced now and then a total benifit.

Again thanks, I have learned a lot from this website. You folks are super in sharing information.
