We need that reliable source to tell us why Dell would bother in the first place. They should've learned their WM5 to X50 lesson in terms of profit by now.

The X50 lesson was not to change operating system when different hardware/memory configurations are involved. My X5 upgraded to 2003 with no problem, and I would assume that an WM6 upgrade would also cause no problems on an X51v, because the specs support it.
They're not selling the Axim any longer. No way they'd pump resources into a WM6 upgrade for a product they're not selling anymore. No business sense to do so.

I am not talking about hardware or OS. I'm talking about profit (see my previous post). They're not going to make WM6 work for the X51 just to please you or me, especially now that the Aximline is dead.
Just like you assuming WM6 will work with the X51, their assumption was that WM5 was going to work with the X50. Actually they were able to make it work to a satisfactory level. The question is, did they profit from it? Far from it, I believe. They spent more money in tech support and replacing units with X51's just to please the angry mob.
And looking at their track record of bricked units after an upgrade, are the willing to replace them with remaining refurbished units? They might even dish out older models if supply doesn't meet the demand.
No profit, no upgrade. I just don't see it happening.

Exactly! My thoughts are the same as yours. If they can not be up front with us as to not selling/making the Axims any more why would they issue an update to the OS?
