Best option to get music on Axim

Hey fellas, Iam moving from TN to CO in the next 12 days. ( yuppie ! ). The pain is the drive in a Penske truck - almost 2 days.. with stops.. I hoped to put bunch of music on the axim to be able to listen to my music library. ..

now.. I have only 4gb sd card and 512 cf. So not much... what would be the cheapest way of somehow streaming music into the axim.. or. hmm.. getting some kind of portable HDD? Is there an easy way of connecting them together ?

Any ideas are welcomed. ( yeah I do'nt want to buy a CF card or Micro Drive.. ) :) I need something at least 20gb size.. ???

thanks for help fellas!
LONG LIVE THE AXIM!

WEll I'm a girl, but may I ask why you need more than 4GB of storage, that is alot of .mp3 files. Personally I would get a car charger cable for the Axim and get a pair of those Walkman style speakers that plug into the headphone jack of the Axim and you have stereo amplification. Good luck

If you have a bluetooth enabled laptop you could pair them. You should be able to browse the music files on the laptop HDD, but I don't know if your music player will allow you to stream them from that type of connection. It's an idea.

I say don't hassle with the file conversion... use your 4G card with TCMP set on shuffle play. A 4G card will hold at least 1000 songs which is about 50 hours worth of music... plenty for a 2 day trip.

I dont think that theres any point for anyone to convert their music. Ogg might be better, if you dowloaded in ogg originally, but the quality will inevitably be worse going from one lossy form (MP3) to another (ogg). this would really only work if you had the uncompressed

thats the way i understand it anyway!

Why not buy a bunch of 1GB SD cards? They are getting to be quite inexpensive..

I have a batch encoder for WMA.. hmm.. thats' an idea. 4gb is not enough :) I want to be able to put a few discographies of Led Zepplin, Massive attack, Beatles etc.. they take lots of space.

anyways - thank you for the ideas.

If you MUST use the best compression, use HE-AAC v2. I've published quite a lot of info on it; see my later, multimedia-related Bibles.

With Nero's free HE-AAC v2 encoder, you can also use batch files.
