It is fortunate for America that capitalism got us where we are today. :approve:
As far as ordering again from Dell, service is part of the whole package. If good customer service is a priority to you, and if Dell proves to not be a good service provider then take your business elsewhere. I think most people that buy Dell products balance the low cost vs. the potential of having problems down the road. Dell definitely gives more bang for the buck IF there are no problems.
Perhaps I misspoke. I am all for capitalism, but real capitalism is dead. Now it is just plain greed, and cash at any cost. Truth, science, ethics are forced to bow and worship at the throne of greed. You can no longer trust much of what comes out of the ranks of science because there is such a drive toward profit. Witness the battle over "global warming." Two many of the proponents on both sides have not truth or science but profit.
Get used to it!! Many US. high tech companies are outsourcing tech support to minimum wage India companies, with mor following suit all the time! I work for a tech company that brings on more foreign engineers every day. Our software depy is completely Indian sw. engineers.
Which is amazing.. These "USA" Companies that are so proud to be in america can't even give jobs to the country they are so proud to be based in.
Hopefully after the administration change this act will be frowned upon once again.... Maybe if they actually have to hire american workers, they will care about their american customers again.
Capitalism is still alive and well even in the global market. If Dell loses too many customers due primarily to poor service then they will have to make a change to survive. That was the case when primary business support was moved back on shore.
Can Dell get better? Yes! Should you "reward" Dell with your business if you perceive service is poor? No! This is how the free market works.

Listen it's WRONG! Just because the world seems to have been taken over by child molesters, male and female, and many courts are protecting them, should we just roll over and "get use to it???"
I for one would like to know the name of this tech company so I never buy it's products or services again. It is time to kill these kind of business practices before they kill your business.

Both parties are corrupt. A change in administrations will NOT fix the problem. The democrats are just better at making u believe they actually care. There are more democrats who are millionaires in Congress than republicans. Al Gore has to "buy" carbon credits, Edwards use enough electricity per month then 3 families due in a year, Micheal More owns Haliburton stock, Sherly Crow needs 3 buses and several veichles to spread the "green" gospel.
I'm with you gjbnh :). what time shall we all meet in washington?
Why would I want to go there??? Washington IS the problem. When America was founded, small government work better. Now we are to big a nation for small goverment. We need better Local government. The difference is like a class room with 12 students and one with 45 students. Everyone suffers, even the gifted ones because there isn't enough to challenge them.
O k i just talked to the senior service supervisor blah blah blah.. whatever at Dell..
He seemed on the phone very concerned and very understanding when i brought up the same points i brought up here.. And agreed that if he was a consumer he wouldn't want to support a company that he spent a lot of money with and they just drop you off..
He is going to try to get to the bottom of why the handhelds are not being support/upgraded anymore because to him it is a very personal thing i guess.. IDK but the same reason, when dell drops a line of inspirons for the next line they still offer service and upgrades to those old machines because people spent a lot of money. He agreed when i said the comment from the service tech about The axim is made for windows xp and that is all we knew at the time so that is why it wont work with vista was unjust, and he is the one who brought up the point that longhorn (codename for vista) has been around since 2002 or earlier so they knew about a new OS.
HE also told me if enough people call and complain about the lack of upgrades and the fact that windows mobile 6 isn't being supported that dell might have to relook their stance on dropping the whole handheld thing from the hands totally.. Basically he just said if enough people complain, something will have to happen... (this guy was actually in the united state and spoke perfect english, which was def. a first)
But i encourage everyone to call and complain and ask for a supervisor and blah blah blah about how we spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars (some of us 800 or more when the x51v first came out, more then a lot of laptops now adays) and how we wasted our money in a company when we could have gone with HP or another and still had service ona machine they decided not to make anymore.
I'm not going to call and complain about something I have no complaints about. I bought my Axim based upon the fact it was compatible with Windows XP. So far it has been and I'm very pleased with it. In general, I have very few problems with my A12 X51v.
If I upgraded to Vista (which I'm not b/c I don't need it and I know better than to upgrade to a brand new OS), and my Axim didn't work with it, I wouldn't blame Dell b/c the released version of Vista came out long after the Axim hardware and software were finalized. Dell never sold the Axim under the pretense that it would work with future versions of MS Windows, nor should they. If Dell chose to release a ROM to solve problems with Vista compatibility, and it didn't work, then I'd have reason to complain.
NO dell didn't sell it with the pretense that it would work with future versions of MS Windows.. But they did sell it saying it is fully customizable and upgradeable to the newest version of the windows mobile line. Which would be windows mobile 6. Just like how pocket pc 2003 upgraded to windows mobile 5. Guess what.. Vista is here to stay, it isn't going anywhere so eventually (unless you are still using a windows 3.11 or windows 95 computer) you will be using vista....
Oh and also for everyone who has been bashing Vista.. Yes it does have some problems.. Yes there are bugs that need to be worked out.. Microsoft cant anticipate every situations.. they rely on people to find the bugs and report them with teh automatic tools.. hense why windows always has offered free updates..
Despite the 3 programs i have that wont work on vista anymore.. Vista is actually a lot faster OS then Windows XP based upon its XML core.
The allocation of 100% memory instead of allocating only what is requested transfers programs a lot faster. Let alone the effects of directx10 (only can have directx10 on vista) on games.
Everyone complains about the UAC but windows didn't make it impossible to turn off.. actually it is very simple to turn off and you run the risk if you do, but that is your choice... Yes windows will never be as secure as OS X, but it has a lot more programs avalible then OS X too...
"But they did sell it saying it is fullly customizable and upgradeable to the newest version of the windows moble line"... where did you see that?
I don't believe Dell ever printed or said that about any Axim. You may have assumed that based upon the fact that you can do that with a desktop, but rarely with a PDA. Fully customizable yes, upgradeable to the newst windows mobile version, no.
Yes, I'll be using Vista sometime in the future but not for at least a year or two. I hear that Vista is pretty good and it looks great but I think most people have no reason to upgrade. XP is fast, stable, runs just about everything and is still supported by MS. I work in a 5000+ person company and we're running very well on XP with no plans to upgrade anytime soon.
Here is one...I have had a dell laptop for 3 years now with bluetooth that I've never used. Just got the whim to sync my axim with my laptop via bluetooth especially now that I plan on getting a bluetooth capable phone. I couldn't get the bluetooth radio to enable on the laptop so i log on to their chat. 3 times she asked me to install drivers that were a) not the correct bluetooth drivers or b) not bluetooth drivers at all. After pointing this out to her, she gave me a number to call for tech support. I call and used Dell's direct connect so the tech can remotely take over my computer. I sit in stunned silence as I watch him download and install the same driver no less than six times. After 45 minutes, he tells me its a fault with WindowsXP and that I need to reformat. I only called dell becuase i thought there was a simple solution I wasn't getting, having never used it. After hanging up, I had the bluetooth working in 5 minutes by uninstalling the device and drivers and then installing the dell drivers before microsoft had a chance to jump in there and mess it up. Works great and both devices find each other no problem. I used to love dell but I'm done with them. I'll never buy from them again.

First of all the current administration has very little to do with companies moving overseas. The tax code in America is mostly what is responsible for that. If we as a country had the will to implement the "Fair Tax", most ,if not all of these corporations would move back to their own shores along with many other country's companies.
We would also lose the IRS and wouldn't that be cool?
