Why to Avoid dell in the future

After about 60 minutes on the phone with customer support i got absolutely no where and requested to speak to the highest level of managment i can.. They are suppose to call me back in 24-48 hours..
Reason for this call? Bluetooth sync of Dell axim x51v With my brand new inspiron e1505 laptop with Windows Vista.
First the guy swears to me that you can download windows mobile 6 over the microsoft website.. WRONG!
I point out to the guy 3 simple letters.. SDK... apperently in india they dont know what SDK is so i informed him it is the coding program to create a windows mobile 6 rom for the dell axim x51v.
Then he goes on to tell me the axim x51v does not meet the criteria for windows mobile 6.. WRONG #2.. Dell axim x51v is far superior to machines already rumoured for windows mobile 6
Then he tells me it is microsofts fault and they should code it for the axim. WRONG #3. Microsoft released the sdk to all companies of handheld computers including Dell for free... they did they part.. if dell cared about their customers they could take the little effort to convert it.
Then he tells me that the axim is only ment for Windows XP and that they wont support it for dell.. PLEASE EXPLAIN WHY I SPENT 1800 DOLLARS ON A COMPUTER FROM DELL THAT HAS VISTA ON IT! if they never intended to support products that are suppose to work with computers?
Then i requested the money back for my axim.. He told me that is impossible because i have had it for over a year...
Simple questions: Why would i spend over 600 dollars on a device that would become useless with new technology in just a year? Last i read the dell boosted that it can be upgradable to support tomorrows technology...
Then he simple says dell is out of the hand held business.. That is all he can say..
GREAT SUPPORT ON THEIR CUSTOMERS! I am so happy i am a customer of a company that just tells their customers to F*** off, we dont care that you spent a lot of money with us. Does anyone wonder why their stocks are in trouble?

I dont believe i will ever buy a dell again after this. I am actually thinking of returning my new laptop and going with another computer company that actually will care about their customers.
They blame vista for all their problems, the guy said: Well we had no idea that vista would be coming out and we never intended to make a machine for an operating system that we didn't know about. Quick question... Are you telling me a year ago, their weren't rumours LET ALONE BETA TESTING of a new operating system from microsoft? Are you saying that microsoft whipped vista together in a weekend and then sprung it on the world? (Please no jokes like, the way it is bugging they might have done just that).
THEN HE PAWNS ME OFF ON AXIMSITE! Tells me to take my problem up here...
That is a great business profile.. Pawn off your customer problems on a website that isn't run/owned by that company...

Wow, Strike one for Dell. Anyone else have some horror stories from dell? I actually do have one. I just recently bought a MP3 player from Dell. (8 gb Sansa; I couldn't beat the price) When I received it; I saw that the MP3 player was actually used not new. Box open, black finger prints all over device etc. I phoned Dell. After arguing with them for a long time, they realized they made a mistake and were suppose to send me a new one. I am currently awaiting my replacement. I will let you know if they goofed again.

First off, calm down please. Go here and download Windows Mobile Device Center 6 Install it, my Axim wouldn't connect without it, and I cannot for the live of me understand why Vista came with that crappy version it has on the install disk. I sync with bluetooth all the time now, something I almost never could do with XP. Dell has some of the best computers around, but like most Computer companies, they hire cheap crappy service people.

Some friends and I had issues with Dell quite a few years ago with a batch of desk tops we all purchased for some 3D work whilst we were in school, that bad experience just ruined their reputation with me and my friends. But they brought the Axim out and I turned to the darkside again, on the whole it is a great machine and I have no problems connecting via bluetooth to my home built PC with XP, I haven`t converted to Vista as I don`t really see the point right now.

Honestly what I do in situations like that, is hang up and call back. Calling different times of the day will usually help. When one of the Home buttons got stuck on my new x51v that I got off Amazon.com, I spent 4 days talking to about 13 people total and 2 supervisors before I got the warranty changed over and the axim replaced.

I think it was about midnight when I spoke to the last supervisor who claimed they couldn't transfer the warranty, but low and behold the next day when I talked to someone they said it was already transferred and a new axim was already shipped out heading to my house!

Just takes persistence. Believe me I'll be calling in complaining about WM6 not being supported on my Axim.

I am suppose to have the highest level of their supervisors that will talk to customers call me in 24-48 hours.. lets see if they actually do it to complain why they wont support their customers and convert windows mobile 6 to the axim. I understand they discontinued the line and are out of the handheld business, but that doesn't mean just drop all your handheld customers. If i had known this i would have gone with an HP handheld or another brand.. Granted it isn't as advanced as the axim x51v but atleast they treat their customers right and support their outdated machines. To me.. This is like if everyone switched to vista now (hypothetical) that they would not honor any support for XP machines anymore because it is old technology that they dont deal with anymore.... Its like if they drop the e1505 line of inspirons and make a F1505 or something and saying well we dont deal with the e1505 because we dont make it anymore....

What i find funny is that the tech support doesn't even know anything about the Unit. When they suggested to me that i should download it off the microsoft website...I am pretty damn sure that the handheld company is the only way to get Rom updates (that include operating systems) for any handheld.. That this isn't like vista where it is a generic OS that can be installed on any computer...

It's actually not Dells direct fault: They use Microsoft operating systems that break backwards compatibility. Of course, Dell is responsible for choosing that OS. The Inspiron laptop I ordered forces the buyer to pax the MS tax and purchase Windows. I never even accepted the EULA, and loaded Fedora on the lappy the very first minute it came out of the plastic wrap.

Here we see how unbridled capitalism has ruin another American business. The ongoing saga of Menu foods, fueled by the corporate drive for stockholder profits, and its entailing cost-cutting is ruining western business, and turning America into a 3rd world country where you can no longer trust any national or international company. Unless citizens rise up and take their country back, our children will live in poverty. We have already seen this with the death and sickness of our pets, and several times in the last couple of years with the Taco Bell deaths and the peanut butter related deaths caused not doubt by "cost cutting" measures as companies try and reduce costs, increase profits until the system breaks and deaths occur.

IT IS TIME FOR A REVOLUTION!

Only a fool would think otherwise.

It is fortunate for America that capitalism got us where we are today. :approve:

As far as ordering again from Dell, service is part of the whole package. If good customer service is a priority to you, and if Dell proves to not be a good service provider then take your business elsewhere. I think most people that buy Dell products balance the low cost vs. the potential of having problems down the road. Dell definitely gives more bang for the buck IF there are no problems.

Not true anymore.. Dell is no longer the best bang for the buck...
Customer Service is a big part. And their, I dont care about you even though you spent hundreds and thousands of dollars is the reason why people are leaving dell and their stocks are dropping... At one time dell was the New computer for a New time.. But they have offer nothing different then every other computer company now. Let alone the fact I call microsoft, i am talking to a woman in america that understands what i am saying and doesn't have to read from a prepared script, when i call dell.. I get a guy named "derek" that you know is in india or another world because of many factors and have to say everything twice to him because he keeps reading the same thing over and over from a prepare script. When i went through the chain of command at Dell EVERY ONE OF THEM was from india.

Reason #1 I don't like the bleeding edge of technology. I like something that is a little better tested. I'll get Vista with a new PC after the 2nd Service Pack.
