Given that these are ROM images, which are basically firmware rather than being an OS loaded in a normal PC like your Windows XP install... I kinda doubt it. Nice idea, but I don't think it's possible given current PocketPC design paradigms.

The hardware of a WM 2003 and WM5 device tends to be different. The x50 series is an exception. So, not likely. Also, the opporating system is loaded into the main memory and you would then have two opporating systems loaded. WM5 only leaves you about 25 meg to run programs. WM 2003 I think would use up all that left over memory space. You may be able to dual boot but you would not be able to run anything on the x50. I am not a computer expert but I think this would be the case. You could upgrade to the larger ROM and it may be possible on the x50. We would need an expert to comment on that. I think the upgrade is $160. Then you get to experiment! Is it worth it?

nope. not possible. sorry...

a few rweasons why not

#versions of wm arent used to beign on a storage medium with another version. who knows how they will react.

# you would have a good 0.00002mb of memory if you dual booted them (ok, an exaderation)

# how are you going to boot them? you will need to code a boot loader which will take up even more ram.

#...

The only way you could feasibly dual boot between WM2003 and WM5 without being a god in the embedded hardware field would be to find an identical (and I really mean identical) set of flash chips and somehow piggy-back them on top of your current flash chips with wires coming off the chip select pins in order to enable one chip and disable the other.

Of course this ignores the fact that it would likely draw more power, be difficult if not impossible to install, have the chance of completely corrupting both ROMs if you flick the switch at the wrong time and the fact that the chips are BGA and so are completely impossible to piggyback on top of each other.

Other than that I think you should go for it.
