window losing focus when syncing...

hi, i am not sure if i am going to be able to properly explain this, but here it goes...

using x51v, windows mobile device center/ sync center (on vista)... everytime i dock my pda, my current window in vista temporarily loses focus and then regains it, over and over again. For example, if i am typing in word, for a split second i am unable to type, then the word window regains the focus and i can start typing for a few seconds until it happens again. This is effecting the whole OS operation, if I want to choose a program from the start menu I have to be quick otherwise the whole start menu disappears as it loses focus and so on and so forth.

This used to happen on my previous pda (hp h4150) and when i was on XP too. The solution then would be to unhook the USB cable from the dock once the initial sync was complete and let it charge. Unfortunately the usb cable on the dell dock is hard wired so if i want it to be charged i have to unhook the usb connector from the back of the pc.

any ideas?
