Help with "Dial Via Bluetooth" and LG CU 500

I have a dell axim x51v, and want to use the "Dial via bluetooth" option in outlook contacts. So i upgraded the bluetooth stack to a widcom one. So now when i select the contact and say "Dial Via Bluetooth". It goes through the following options:

(1) Connecting to the Phone
(2) Sent number to the Phone.
(3) Dailing number to the Phone.

But I see nothing happening on my phone, any clue whats wrong. I have bluetooth on my cell phone, and i can connect to my phone for file transfer and everything else.

I could give you several directions but if you reach to get the message "Dialing the number" it means everything is OK.

It works fine with my SonyEricsson K608i.
It works for me both ways: using dialer added by Broadcomm BT stack and using native Microsoft BT stack + Free BT Dialer utility.

See if your friends have cell phones with BT and try it with them justo to make sure about what is happening.

Download latest version 0.5 from here:

Install the cab file, that's all!

Widcomm stack turns on/off BT automatically when dialing.
It also better handles other BT connections at a time. At lest my BT GPS does not loose connection while dialing.

Recently I read some people avoiding using widcomm stack saying it takes 2MB of RAM. Yesterday I hard rest my PDA, installed SKTools and run "Optimize for memory", then I did the following:

1) Soft reset + SKTools clear RAM: 32.2MB free
2) Installed Widcomm BT stack
3) Soft reset + SKTools clear RAM: 31.6MB free

So it seems widcomm stack takes about 0.5MB.

REMARKS:
If I "optimize for performance" I loose 2MB of free RAM and difference remains about 0.5MB.

I have a LG Fusic which is just a few version above your LG 500.
I was trying to do exactly what your question ask for and did A LOT of research for it.

The problem (at least for Fusic) is the capability of the bluetooth (or the stack) on the phone.
Between the phone and pda, you need a "serial port" connection, but all I get is "Dial-Up Networking" Connection.
"Dial-Up Networking" connection is for phone act as modem... and nothing else.
So, my phone can transfer contact, transfer files, and dial as modem (if I paid for the service), but without the "serial port" capability, it will not dial from your PDA. So "Dial via bluetooth" will not work for LG 550 (aka Fusic).

You can check what the phone supports under tools-->bluetooth-->supported device. If your LG 500 has the "Serial Port" connection, Great. If not, then you can't dial via bluetooth from you pda.

It works great on my CU500.

Here's what you gotta do. Go to Menu --> Settings --> Connection

Change USB Connection Mode = Data Service
Change Dial Up Networking = Bluetooth
Also make sure your CU500's Bluetooth is ON
Then your set.

I didn't even pair the phone prior to testing. Just made a Test contact with my work cell number, and selected "Dial by bluetooth". A window came up with the name of the contact "TEST" then it asks to Select Phone with a icon next to it. Click the icon and it searched for bluetooth devices. I selected my CU500 and clicked ok. Then it dialed.

The only thing is that I can't figure out how to transfer the audio to my CU500 to my axim then to my H700 bluetooth headset. The only way I can get this to work is if I pair my H700 to my Phone, and just use my PPC to dial the numbers. But then again, without my H700 I'd have to pull my phone out of my pocket and open it up. I thought the H700 could pair up to 4 devices but it's only liking 1.
