Mortscript Problem

After reading posts on the backlight dim problems, I realized I have the same.
I downloaded Mortscript 4.0, installed the CAB into the Axim. Created the files in notepad, but saved as mscr (extension).
Tested the script out by changing the backlight settings, then running the sript manually. Checked the backlight setting and they changed to whatever the script is.
But, when I created a shortcut and placed that shortcut into Windows\Startup, after reset I get this error message: "The file 'Dim300' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. You might need to reinstall or restore this file."

Script runs fine after the Axim boots, but does not run in the startup. What am I doing wrong???

The script files are very small. I would try just putting the complete script in the programs file and see if it launches. I have noticed that some macros do not launch well as shortcut files.

Have you used the Setsecurity.exe or anything similar to turn off the signing of certificate when installing new apps? Try re-enabling it once and re-install mortscript again. I think you can disabling it once the mortscript can run during startup.

Cravus - Yes, I tried both complete program and shortcut in the 'startup' folder.
Zhaoyun - I never used anything to turn off the signing of certificates. What is setsecurity.exe?

Remember, I can run the program successfully by itself. For example, I just switched the battery and after startup, I ran the program and it set the dim settings where I want, with no errors.

Post the script and I will see if I can duplicate it.

See here for more info on setsecurity. If you haven't ever used similar programs, whenever you are installing apps, you will see a message "The program is from an unnknown publisher. You should install it only if you trust its publisher......" If setsecurity is used, such trusting step is bypassed.

I remember I have had exactly the same problem before. I recalled that I disabled the setsecurity and it worked again.

A side issue, do you install mortscript on storage card or main memory? Apps installed in storage cards may not be available at the very early stage of startup, which may also cause the message you posted. Try install it in main memory if not already.

The script I used was modified from the one that gets posted here:
RegWriteDWord HKCU, "ControlPanel\Backlight", "BatteryTimeout", 300
RegWriteDWord HKCU, "ControlPanel\Backlight", "ACTimeout", 60

But, all is fixed by taking Mortsript off the SD card and installing it directly into Axim memory. I should have realized this. :realmad: Thanks to all for the help.
