8gb Seagate MDrive on X51v will not work! Any help?!
I bought a Seagate 8gb ST 1.2 CF II Micro Drive that does not work. Is there any hope for this or should I resell it. The returb process puts me out more than I bet I can sell it for. It works fine on my PC but not my Axim. Thanks for the help!:approve:

I would get some one elses CF card and try it in your unit first. If that does not work then I would do a hard reset of your unit and then try your micro drive prior to adding any data, applications or syncing. If all of that fails then it is very possible your CF slot is the issue not CF cards in general.
the axim is very picky and anal about the microdrives,u gotta make sure that it is not a True-IDE model as the axim will not read those, with seagate the ones that are orange at the top should work.
That's because people tear them out of MP3 players and suchlike. Back in the dark ages (the sub gigabyte days) said ripped-from-whatever drives would work in PDA's and were the best value dollar per megabyte. OEM's caught on to this - probably something to do with Apple and Creative having to field ten thousand "defectives" coming back from retailers with no drives or 16 meg CF cards bodged back into them - and they starting using drives that wouldn't work in memory card mode.
I have a Hitachi that's "true IDE" only and won't work as a memory card no way, no how. Came out of a busted Sony Microvault. I tried everything there is and eventually gave up... The Storage Brick driver, moving over WM5 atapi.dll files, and everything in between. The drive she spins, but the machine doesn't know how to read it.
My drive was free, and it's "only" 5 gigs, so I just bought a 4 gig solid state CF card for something like 20 bucks online and called it a day. I can still use my microdrive in my card reader and with my CF-to-IDE adapter but that's of rather limited utility. I'm thinking of just taking it apart and using it for decoration.

GKnight, one thing to check, is format of card, larger cards like to be FAT or FAT16 with ax51/v. There is a possibility that the card needs to be formatted on the ax to work with ax. Have you contacted seagate for compatability confirmation?
