PalmOne Universal keyboard & Terminal Services

Hello all,

I was wondering if any of you have experienced this problem. The Palm Universal Keyboard works great for everything....except Terminal Services. Once I get to the Login prompt, it ceases to function. If I switch to another app, it works fine. Has anybody encountered this problem and (more importantly) has anybody found a way to get the IR keyboard to work with Terminal Services?

(*crickets*)?

Sooo... nobody on this forum has encountered this besides Dan and I?

Even if there was a simple link to an older discussion or elsewhere would help.

Same problem suffered here w/ my Palmone Universal Wireless KB. I'm guessing there's no solution.

Hm, that's an interesting bug. I'll try that today or this weekend with my Belkin keyboard, but I suspect I'll have the same trouble. A quick googling of the issue demonstrated that this issue has been seen since at least back in 2003 on Windows Mobile OSes. I'm wondering if the TS client uses a different keyboard wrapper to communicate with the remote server, so that the wireless keyboard receiver app on the Axim is simply passing on instructions to the "regular" keyboard tool that might suspended while the TS client is active/in focus.
I might also try seeing if it matters what keyboard app I use, either my Calligrapher 8.x keyboard app or the regular "built in" app. I'm guessing it won't but it's worth a shot. Just for kicks I may try using my Pocket Controller app with the Axim docked and see if a similar behavior is observed when using my desktop keyboard.

Well, the only problem I had with my Belkin wireless IR keyboard was that the Windows key always brought up Windows Mobile's windows key, not the target system. I was able to connect to a Win 2000 server, tab around on the screen, tab to the Start menu to open it and launch other apps. Kind of wish my Belkin had an ESC key to see if the CTRL-ESC combo would work on the terminal server.

Thanks for looking into it Breley. It's good to know that other brands do not suffer the same problem (except perhaps the windows key phenomenon you described).

I never thought of using pocket controller to simulate the problem. Good thinking.

Well at least I know it wasn't my own model that had some issues. Oh well. Known issue but no solution in regards to that particular model. (*sigh*)

Thanks anyways.
