Windows Mobile 6 Petition, Sign up for the good fight!
Fellow Aximsiters, I am calling on all you for help! I want to start a petition to have dell come out with an upgrade for windows mobile 6 on the dell axim x51(x)!!! It is crucial that we all have an update as we have spent over (at least) $450+ on this device. I believe that it is only fair as paying customers to receive all the benefits, especially for paying that amount of money!!!!! I just got off the phone with a technical support personal stating to me "that there are probably not any plans for an update", with probably that means there is still hope! A chance to bring out (be it how ever likely) an update. This cannot happen without everyones support on aximsite! There are currently 194,257 (8:14 June 7th, 2007) people registered and that is way more than enough in my opinion. I am in a bit of a stumble because I do not know how to set a petition up, but out of 194,257 people I am sure someone does. I know that if everyone worked together on this we could get dell to cave in and give us our update that we deserve as "loyal" paying customers!

My apologies AKAJohnDoe, I meant the x to be a variable! Example, Dell Axim X51v, X51. (I am not sure if the Axim X50 would support Mobile 6 or not?)

Keep in mind I'm not going to bash you but some of our more annoyed members are abit rude and might do so, so don't let them fase you, we aren't all like that.
Even if we do manage to band together we have little chance of actually getting it since production has stopped & it'll be alot of upset people if Dell screws up the upgrade.
Really there is less than a 20% chance of it happening at all since Dell has bailed on the market.

Why is it cruical? My X51v works perfectly with WM5.
What's unfair? Dell sold me (and you) a PDA that was supposed to work with WM5 and it does. Dell NEVER said (or even hinted) the X51v would work with the next version of WM.
Why do we deserve it? What did we do to deserve it? We made a fair exchange of money for a WM5 PDA and nothing else. There was nothing else promised at the time of the transaction between you and Dell. If you didn't think it was fair at the time of purchase, you wouldn't have paid for it - no one forced you to buy it.
You are right on one thing though - something must be done and that's stop thinking you deserve things when you don't.
Before you whine about my post, try and put together some reasonable answers to my questions.
Paul, I was going to say exactly the same thing...
With the addition that if you are planning a revolution, you may want to
a) have a look in the wm6 forum, at the dozens of other threads that cover this issue
b) search on 'petition'
c) find the open letter to Dell that Chris posted... some time ago, looking at the wm5 issue with axims
d) search back, and look at the achievements of the campaigns to get Dell to release wm5 for the x30 series..
If you actually want to do this, do it properly, which involves doing your homework.

As far as I can see on these forums WM6 is a PEBKAC issue...
Wow, I looked at Dells Ideastorm thing, and rather than people creating just one request for WM6 there are like 15 or so, all with different amounts of people and all whining about this rather than getting on with their lives.

I was going to post a further response, but there is really nothing more to add to what Paul and others have already said.
This is significantly different from the situation manny x50 users faced when Dell promised an upgrade and then the promised upgrade did not work., Dell has made no such promise with the x51 sereis or WM6.

Be happy about your AX with WM5 and the current level of performance it's providing you. I am at least !
This Site helped me a lot to achieve (enabled at all ?!) a very stabile performance of my AX.
The life of some AX owners seems to be that boring, that it is forcing them to search for problems to be solved.
I thought I was doing you nerds a favor, but whatever! If you want to adhere to come major coporation and not even try to stand up and fight for the rights your surely are entitled to then piss on you! Don't care, what ever!
