I haven't done the WM5 upgrade since the original disc came out (after which I promptly reverted to WM2003), so I think I'll give it a try once more...
Looks like I may already be downgrading back to 2003. Since the update, I haven't been able to connect to my router using WPA-PSK (even with the Odyssey client). It keeps "waiting for keys." Anyone else have this problem after updating?

No not having this problem at all, this WM5 3.5 works exactly the same as the last WM A02 I had installed, perfectly, I connect to my BT Router perfectly, the first time you get a pop up window appear, you input your WEP key then each time after that it just works...try changing your Routers settings, perhaps try a different security setting, not sure really hopefully someone else will know

It works fine with WEP. It's WPA that's the problem. I only tested it with the WM5 3.5 ROM, so for all I know it may occur with the WM5 A01 and A02 ROMs.

It's just a little ironic that my main reason for trying to get WM5 to work was in order to possibly alleviate the bug that Opera has on the X50v where it garbles long pages. Opera may work but now I can't connect to my router lol

What we really need is for someone like Makku or someone else that knows how to make custom roms to post instructions on how to make a custom rom for the axim (any WM5 or WM2003 one, perferably the X50(mid) or any other axim). I have been searching the internet and Xda-developers, but all I find is stuff about rom cookers for the XDA and other HTC phones. I know that making a custom rom is not for the computer novice, but I am fairly knowledgeable about computers (hardware and software). I have little experience with embedded computers (just my axim), but I would be willing to learn.

The WPA problem does exist with the A02 rom. It seems to only be a problem with certain routers but i've been forced to use WEP plus MAC address lock to get it working. I'm going to give this ROM a go tonight. I've been happy with A02 but am always keen to try new things.

For what it's worth, it works here. I tried A02 and A03 and both work with my WPA router. Try using TKIP only. I vaguely remember I had to do this in order to make it work.

I am surprised this thread is not yet closed, I thought it was against the rule to talk about Rom here.
Anyway I guess that someone will probably post a Kitchen for axims on xda, right now I am still fighting with my x51v to have CF support on 352 aku. But I am still wondering if someone will ever succeed.
If you want to cook your own it's not that difficult (of course at your own risks) as long as you don't want to create your rom with a new aku, just use the already existing rom.
You can use Mamaich and Bepe tools, check the 2 stickies @ xda + bepe's kitchen.

Had this problem before too, and it was solved by allowing my router to broadcast the SSID. I used to hide it thinking of security concerns, but I've sinced realized that hiding it does nothing except make it more of a pain for me to setup my clients...

I am using TKIP. There definitely is a difference between the Odyssey client in WM2003 and WM5 (or at least this ROM--haven't tried the others). The WM2003 Odyssey has an option for AES (which I don't use, but I know it's there) and the WM5 one does not. So something has changed in the client, and it seems that whatever changes there may be have caused it to not play friendly with my router (a DI-624...which seems to get mentioned a lot when people have WPA/Axim troubles).

And I do have the SSID broadcast.

I wonder, is it possible to take the cf card driver in the A02 rom and put it in the A03 rom, or would it not be compatible with the new aku? For the cf driver, look somewhere in the registry.

A18 is in testing at the moment and it has full CF support on the x51v so when football releases that, many of the issues with A17 should be solved.

that's good news. i'm definitely going to up my X51v to AKU 3.5 once CF support is available.

by and by, nobody post any links to anything sketch here, or we won't be able to talk about it :hide:
