hi, all i can say is THANKS MAG_LITE. this is the rom that dell should have given us. i guess it takes an independent genius w/ his pals to get it right. hopefully, we can get to the point of maximizing the axim w/ xip, 512 cluster size etc. again great work guys.

Ok, I have had my X50v sitting in it's charger for over 9 a year. the reason was I was sick and tired of it crashing and running out of memory and then having to reinstall everything from scratch..over and over.

I now would like to start over and use it for a GPS mainly. It is completely wiped out, nothing, not even my name has been re-entered...where would I start as for as upgrading to this new rom? also, what applications, utilities or programs would everyone recommend?

Thanks in advance......would be nice to get to use my Axim again.

the files u have should be
WM50_K_A03_X50v_WM50_EN.nb0
WM50_K_A03_X50v_WM50_EN_nb0.crc

duplicate them and rename the K with B, namely,

WM50_B_A03_X50v_WM50_EN.nb0
WM50_B_A03_X50v_WM50_EN_nb0.crc

that should work now.

prior to your update you need WM5 at least to run the SD card update.

yes, it would wipe everything in your registry, including all your previously installed programs (including files in Built-in storage). be warned =)

Basically you need to have A01 WM5 installed first, then you install the AKU one...

as for doing the SD thing, I found it a little tricky, in the end it was more like hold down the Wireless/power buttons, then a slip second after the soft reset button on the back...

play around until you get a bright blue band with white text at the top of your axim screen not the normal hard reset options screen

How do you revert to A01 when you have A02 installed, is there a downgrade utility?

I don't think it's a driver issue, I suspect that the tool used to generate the 352 xip kernel gets a corrupted xip for x51, while it works fine for x50.

Sorry, no I just upgraded directly from A02...

I ment if you have 2003SE you have to upgrade to A01 WM5 first

Basically Maverick02, its the best thing thats happened for the X50v, it allows the proper and near on perfect use of WM5/6...

Its a mix of WM5 and WM6, has the transcriber removed for some odd reason, still has the filesys but its just doesn't ever slow anything down...definitely worth upgrading to
