Flight mode/Widcomm BT stack/Garmin Mobile XT

So, I thought I'd be the "cool kid" on the block and install the Garmin Mobile XT software on my x51V. I had previously installed the Widcomm BT stack as it actually makes my x51V functional (imagine that) as I can sync with my laptop, connect reliably to my GPS 10, etc.

In any case, long story short is that when I try to run the Garmin Mobile XT software it's saying that I need to turn off flight mode so that bluetooth can be enabled. I see that the flight mode icon is at the top of my x51V screen and I'm given the option to Turn off flight mode but when I click on it, it does nothing.

Does the Widcomm BT stack interfere with the x51V's notion of whether flight mode is on or off? Does anyone know of any utilities to make the x51V think that flight mode is off?

I don't know the underlined issue, but I know that I have to power up both the bluetooth and the WiFi, before I turn on the Garmin Mobile XT S/W. Part of the Widcomm stack installation is the addition of allowing these two wireless network interfaces to be turned on and off individually, without that, both of the interfaces are controlled together. I guess that the Garmin S/W senses some register bit and wants the WiFi I/F to be on. I cannot turn it on after the Garmin S/W is already running. In that case I still get an error, so I don't fight it and turn on the BT and the WiFi before turning on the Garmin S/W, whether I get a WiFi connection or not, then turn it off after the Garmin S/W is running.
