I have had much less problems with the A17. I do less resets and I have less freeze ups when running multiple applications at once. It is faster, I have more available memory to run applications, it looks nicer, and for my purposes it is more stable than A12.

You do realize that these ROMs aren't programmed for Axim, right? They are PORTED from other devices and were originally custom-made for other HTC devices.

I would advice these ROMs to all enthusiasts, but for anyone who wants a stable and reliable Axim - stick to A12.

Right, one last attempt.

I would like to try and make a bugfree AKU3.5.2 WM5 ROM. Do I have any support or are the WM6 fanboys just going to take over? I believe that WM5 still has some good life in it and can be suitably enhanced without getting illegal and using WM6.

I couldn't care less about WM6, I haven't paid for it and it gives nothing I don't already have apart from a decent version of PIE. A working AKU3.5.2 is all I want and that is what we are allowed to discuss here.

Or am I just banging my head against a brick wall?

I have restored the link on the first thread. I will try to help people if they have issues with this rom. However I am still using A12 rom, so I guess I will upgrade soon to spend more time testing this rom.

If you can then place make a better WM5 ROM but make sure all address issues are fixed... and the battery indicator is there!

I would like to see and run a 'bugfree' AKU3.5.2 ROM update for my x51v. I'm still staying with the relative safety of the Official A12. I still haven't made the jump on this because of the 'bugs' being stated here and there.

i personally think a17 is perfect already, the problems with pie? buy opera or netfront, pie sucks anyway,
battery indicator? enough (free) programs to solve that.

And the claim a17 uses up more power than a12? i dont know with using what that is tested, but my ax can get up to 10 hr music playback (with ocasionally turning screen on and off to select other songs) , also i can use pocketWord for about 4-5 hours (never really measured it, but 1 schoolday). All of them are better than my ax that had a12 installed on it

I agree completely, I have found no noticeable loss in performance. I use my Axim all day long as a work machine and I would notice a significant loss in battery performance. It runs all day with my extended battery just like A12. I also use several aftermarket programs that are far superior to the built in programs.

Regarding WM6, with the after market programs in place I do not see much advantage to WM6 for me. I would prefer tweaking the WM5. Apparently that is the more honest thing to do.

Why do you need a battery indicator? install magic button; it also clsoes programs intead of minimizing them!

I found an odd quirk recently on my device. The processor used to run @ 108mhz when idle and 212mhz when minor load. Now it runs @ 208 idle and 316 minor load --- BUT WITH LESS BATTERY DRAIN!!!

I dont know how this is possible, but it's awesome! lol

I don't surf the web that much on the Axim, so buying another browser is just wasted $$ (for me). Yes, PIE sucks, but for what I use it for it fits the bill (again I don't use it heavily).

And I use iLauncher for battery monitoring as well as Uptime. I got rid of the battery icon and replaced it with the date and time instead.

So general consensus is A17 ROM is much better than A12? Having better memory management architecture and all that to have the device run smoothly? Does it handle notifications better? My device is having problems with third party software (defaults work fine), which I can't figure out how to remedy.

The registry fixes will load if you have a registry editor. I use TotalCommander, it is a free file explorer with a built in registry editor. With TotalCommander installed the registry files load right in by just clicking on the file. Other registry editors will work as well like Resco Explorer and some of the other free ones floating around etc. I hope that helps.
