Regarding notification problems, I have not noticed any notification issues so far. We shall see. I have been using A17 since it was released. One person's observation only.
Ok, I've installed it and so far it seems snappier but I get the same thing when I do any kind of hardware reset which clears all the cruft out of the system, so I can't say either way. And it's definitely prettier but I don't really care about that either. That's what skins are for.
Reading up on information regarding AKU version history, I expected to see a bunch of other improvements like proper WPA2 support. Not only is that not there, but the Oddessy client doesn't anymore either.
Are there any *practical* benefits to this thing other than the minor improvement in PIE? My first impression is that it adds lots of fluff but nothing that a serious road warrior could use.
Well Ilsa, I believe you hit the nail right on the head there with the "same thing when I do any kind of hardware reset." That was exactly my opinion of the AKU3.5.2 and is why I went back to the standard A12 ROM.
The thing is though that we have the option of tweaking what we have on our devices to make it better, I would like to add WPA2. The improved PIE is a bonus, though not a big one I admit. Other things we can add, freeware that the authors allow us to put it, we have the possibilities...

I went back to A12 to verify the oddysey thing, and it doesn't support WPA2 in the original version either, so I was mistaken on that count.
Either way, this hacked rom is a very solid first attempt at getting decent functionality incorporated into the x51v. Dell is hopeless when it comes to rom updates, so even if all this does is make things pretty, it's still neat. I hope it moves even farther and includes useful stuff like a real and proper bluetooth stack, and WAP2 support.

I've been using it ever since the CF problem resolution. This ROM in my personal experience has been much more stable than A12, even weeks after HR. And yes, I did hard resets with A12 and the resulting improvements in stability didn't last long.
Second, it adds high resolution support in PIE - a very neat feature that I don't cosider to be minor.
I've modified A17 rom to a M17, it's supposed to handle SDHC, I need somebody to volonteer for testing. You can PM me and I will send you a download link.
that would be amazing, i would upgrade simply for the purpose of being able to use sdhc. Unfortunetly i don't have any right now so I can't help you

Is that all? Did you try to resolve Wifi WPA TKIP issues? SSL website issues? Is it possible to somehow place a battery indicator like in A12 ROM?
Why insulting? Does online forum portray the tone in which something is being asked?
Actually yes!

The comment highlighted in red implies expectation. Since Makuu is neither employed by Micro$oft nor has he indicated that he would attempt to rectify the issues in the latter portion of your post there should be no expectations of any kind.
It's nice of him to add support for SDHC which many of us have been clamoring for.
:exc:You should have begun your post with a show of appreciation for his efforts; I know he has mine.:approve:

I didn't know that there was a Wifi WPA TKIP issues in the 3.5.2 rom, are you sure of that? However I cannot test this I use wep. I don't think the battery indicator is a major issue, many people are not using it. The important issue were CF slot support (and i fixed this), then SDHC is also important for me but I cannot test it and didn't found any candidates to test this for me.

Yeah, and then SSL websites not working, and I think 2700 acceleration in Windows Media Player is missing.
Also, alert messages are NOT centered.
I do appreciate your work, but I just wanted to make sure you know of these issues if you try to make a better ROM than Football. Football said that he was in a hurry when making it, so its not as good as it can be!
