x51v not saving screen dim setting

Hi,

seems my ax won't keep the setting for the screen dim timeouts since a soft reset. If I change the setting, it's ok till I switch it into standby. Next time I turn it on, it's back to 15sec on battery.

Any ideas?

BTW - just purchased a Polaris BT GPS with head-up display for speed/direction/overspeed - works real sweet with the Widcomm stack & tomtom 5.21. starting tomtom fires up BT and connects automagically. google for HUDGPS if interested.

thanks
Dave

THis has happened to a lot of us. It seems that something changes when you do a restore from a saved backup. I have had limited results by going into the registry under HCU>ControlPanel>Backlight from there you will see another folder called LockLevel. I have found it set to many different things but setting it to 0 or 1 seems to work the best. Also, go back up one level and under BackLight you will see sometimes an entry called TimeOutSaved. delete that. make sure you have set the timout back to 3 mins and then see what happens. Sometimes it holds for a long time then other times it goes right back. I haven't found anything else that explains why it changes randomly yet. Of course a hard reset and reloading all of your apps fixes it too.

Yeah it's annoying sometimes when I'm driving and using my GPS on car power and the light dims after 1 minute. Then I have to go to the brightness setting and change that - not easily done while driving.

So I created a registry file and created an icon under iLauncher to launch SKTools to execute the registry file silently.

Set ACTimeout to 0 to keep the Axim from dimming the light under AC power.

Set BatteryTimeout (or ACTimeout) to 0xF for 15 secs, 0x1E for 30 secs, 0x3C for 1 min, 0xB4 for 3 mins, and etc. etc.
